Exclusive First View of Rugby World Cup 2011

Will there be a trailer released this week?

i doubt it, i do believe that the 2 screens are not close to finished. I can't se them releasing a video within the next 4 days if they couldn't even present better screens. Wait wait... be patient, mabye well have a video in another 3 months.

Come on guys, enough with the **** talk. We're lucky to even be having two rugby games coming out this year. Rugby 08 came out in 07! Props to HB for taking the initiative on a new ***le. Competition is a good thing.

On first viewing.... dissappointing, It does look like Rugby Challenge has a slight edge in graphics and in formats (PC version) but as ever with these things, it'll depend on the game play. I also think that Rugby Challenge is due out first so that's not going to help things particularly if HB don't release trailers etc soon. Everyone's been waiting for a new rugby game and most will buy the one they see first

Apologies did not try to cause sh*t. As you say we are lucky to have two games about a sport we love.

I must say that even thought the screens looks disapointing and even thought i do get frustrated with the slow communication i will definitely get both games. Think about it, we havn't had a game since 2007. I am South African and i have even started playing a lot of "Madden" and even the very crap "Rugby leaque live" just to tackle someone and run with a ball. I agree with "greenandgold". We are lucky. And a lot of us will be buying both despite the comments being made on the forum. I am also convinced that we will be surprised with the HB game. It can only improve after those screens.

yeah will probably be getting both, once again sidhe have been very careful in their screen shot selection. None of those are actually of the view one would play with, so doesnt allow you to see differences. Think both companies are trying not to give away too much. If they both play really well it will be hard to know which one to play!! People do just seem to be coming on here saying one comment on HBs game saying its crap and thats it. Maybe do that once you have played the game, as you cant tell alot from screenshots. Fifa 11 screenshots prove that, they dont loook great but the game itself is probably the best sports game made.

Having just seen how impressive graphically Rugby Challenge is (seriously if those are ingame screenshots they blow FIFA out the water and rival Madden) this is a little bit of a let down. Everything but thew players look great. But the players are horrible at the moment. Hopefully we'll see an improvement but 2 months away I just don't know how big it'll be.

I just can't believe Rugby Challenge though. I am truly shocked at the level of detail, very impressed. If HB can sort out the player models then both games will look good.

Just can't wait to see which has the better gameplay. Personally I think Rugby Challenge, it already has Lomu on board for the motion control. HB have a big task on their hands.

Just learnt that Rugby Challenge is using the Euphoria engine. Same engine used for GTA4, Red Dead Redemption and Backbreaker. The physics this engine offers is unreal, and very realistic. Look up some footage of Backbreaker to get an ideas of how tackles might work on this.

I really need to see some RWC2011 gameplay, because at the moment they have very little to make me buy their game over RC (although I'll probably eventually get both).

No they're not - they're using morpheme which is an animation engine, not a physics engine - the guys from Sidhe explained it (either in this thread or in the rugby challenge one, I can't remember)
They're both made by Natural Motion, but are different things

Being "lucky" doesn't mean we can't offer negative feedback to a poor stimulus. If HB expected us to all applaud the two screenshots they released then they have totally misunderstood their audience and as such will be punished at the register like Big Ant were with Rugby League 3. As consumers we have the right to speak our mind, from what I have garnered thus far the mandate is clear. HB have to lift their game. I'm certain that come release time this game will look great, but based on what they have released as preliminary shots, I think they have lost more confidence than they had hoped to gain. Competition is good, but at this stage, unless HB pull out an extremely big rabbit, the Sidhe guys look to have opened up an unassailable lead. I think most forum members will buy both games upon their release, but depending on how HB market their version from here to October will determine whose game gets returned to the store first.

Yer what Olly said :D :D Its an easy mistake to make, although both pieces of software are very different :D :D Very interesting couple of days ahead of us :D :D

These screenshots look absolutely awful. I didnt think it was real at first, i thought some photoshopped the rugby world cup 2011 logo on a picture of rugby2004. I cant believe this is next gen. I'm shocked at how poor this is, looks like I'll be getting rugby challenge after all

Hmmm dissapointing to say the least here's hoping this is just a draft.. looks like HB studios gameplay is going to have to be goooood to compete.

The Hb & 505 Screenshots are for Psp or a handheld surely!

I hope someone finds the E3 footage to prove this!

Anyway 2 rugby games is better than the none of the last 3 years!
