Ewen Mckenzie resigns

Please avoid any accusations at this time, we don't know the details.

The chain of events leading to his resignation are clear. The Beale incident exposed the weakness in player management . It seems power lies with the players.

What a stone cold mess.
Aussie rugby is in disarray at the management level, and it's at a stage when McKenzie was turning it all around.
Tough times for the Aussie union fans.

You are being polite!

John Mitchell is talking about rumours about an affair rumour based on him about 10 years ago.

This video says a lot:

And what's worse is respectable guys backing Mckenzie, like John Eales and George Gregan. Whereas unknown people are slating the poor man...

Poor bloke. He's clearly just had enough and you only had to watch him in the stands during yesterday's game to realise how much it all meant to him.

Yes, but he compares Ewen's situation to his own situation. He has done this on tv also while being a pundit for Supersport.

Anyways, From the interview I gather that he didn't want to say it to the team as they didn't back him up and wanted to avoid a confrontation, and that is the best way to go about. Move on to better things.

Also I see there are talks of who would be the next coach. I doubt any respectable coach would take the job while all is hanging in the air.

I wonder if there is more to this story than on the surface.

As someone who likes a good alien story or government conspiracy, I wouldn't be surprised if the ARU had some dirty dealings with this.

We all know the ARU wanted Cheika at some point to lead Australia. Perhaps this is a way for them to get their man in a hope he cab replicate what he did with the Waratahs for Australia at the 2015 World Cup.

Or perhaps it was just aliens.

Pretty shrewd move promising the truth in his inevitable autobiography - very much interested in hearing his side of things, unedited.

I wonder about Mowen giving up on the captaincy as well, considering he was drinking in Dublin but escaped punishment. Maybe he was in a similar situation to Ewen where he had lost all respect of the players and decided things would be better off without him.

Its a terrible situation all round.
People seem to forget that the AB's have had a seamless transition in the management team since circa 2004, it counts for a lot.

Interesting that Cheika is staying at the Waratahs at the same time along with his two preferred supporting coaches...forgive my ignorance but are there many examples where this has happened before? Not saying it won't work necessarily but seems a shame that the ARU can't find someone that will have 100% of their attentions on the national side at all times. Feel free to prove me wrong though and I've no doubt of his quality as a coach. We'll see I guess!

even with whats been going on it seems a bit out of the blue and players insisting he has not lost the dressing room.

cant help but feel there is a lot more to the story.

Both Link and Deans coached their provincial sides in the same year they transitioned to Wallabies coach.

I agree. I don't think we have anything near to all the facts. We have the public results of the private goings on within the ARU. Will more be made public? Perhaps, but only what's necessary for the public to know and what's necessary to restore fan's faith in Australian rugby.
