European Champions Cup 20-21 - Rd 2

Ngl be pretty funny if the Saints win. That was so poor defensively from Leinsters.

We've had very little rhythm or cohesion since the first 15 but constant injuries play a part I suppose.

Baird has been brilliant, other than that the guys who started last week but not this week have had a good day for selection so far.

James Ryan playing much closer to the level we expect from him.

Edit: shocking reffing that we even ended up with that clearout, absolute joke it wasn't a maul.

Long old time between the infringement and then the TMO call

Clear foul play in real time, don't know why it took so long

Edit: Not even a penalty? Surprising.

There's just zero consistency in refereeing decisions - another game/another ref and that's a red

Agree. Although there is no way to clear the player out without contact with the head when they are that low in that position.

This might sound odd but with the law suit and the reffing etc I can really see rugby disappearing in the next 10 years. There's almost no way to play this game without constant penalties or without hurting people.

That's the worst decision I've seen in ages. As blatant a red card as you'll see.

You'd think after the last two weeks we'd at least enforce the rules about collisions with the head.

If the only part of the body you can hit is the head don't hit the head. If you can't legally clear out the ruck just don't clear out the f***ing ruck.

Shoulder to head = red, and that's all you need to get the right decision there.

The rules say that is a red.
It's a big problem that the refs, ar and tmo fail to see that.

I for one think it's a problem that the rules say that is a red, but i have no solution for it. How is he supposed to clear the opponent? They (team in possession) are quite literally going low and sticking their heads out. Not on purpose but still. You would need to come from the side (still a penalty) or slow and cautious (which is useless).
I understand hits to the head are a thing and i don't have an answer i am comfortable with, but this is ridiculous.

That's why I said I think rugby will slowly die off. If you can't clear out or contest a ruck what's the point in even playing?

Players moan about wanting protection from hits to the head but they go and put their head in the way as protection. It will slowly kill the game.

I think that's a bit of a joke of a statement mate. 90% of clear outs of jackals are by grabbing the body and rolling, or by lifting the legs. You saw it for every other turnover that game. What you can't do is fly in full force and shoulder someone in the head.
