European Champions Cup 20-21 - Rd 2

First results in
Pool A – La Rochelle 28 Bath Rugby 0
Pool B – Glasgow Warriors 0 Lyon 28
Pool B – Toulouse 28 Exeter Chiefs 0

Irrelevant now as just seen precedent set with Chiefs, Bath and Glasgow given 28-0 defeats.

French side getting screwed by the referee here, which won't help his reputation over there

Guess after the farce we are in this cup can hold no credibility sadly.
I usually enjoy the weekend watching the inter league games seems pointless now.

Wasps deserve to be losing this atm
Just because the opposition is a man down it doesn't mean every attack has to go wide ASAP

Sopoaga has scuppered so many attacking opportunities with poor 3-man-miss passes or grubbers to the wing etc

Their tries are coming when they keep things simple

Edit: Like that.
The sooner wasps can ship on sopoaga the better

I don't think we're ever going to see Barbeary at hooker - he's playing far FAR too well at 8.
I think Wasps probably think the same because Oghre is so ******* bad and Barbeary isn't being used ahead of him at 2.

If Barbeary stays at 8 until the 6N then he should be brought into the EPS in a backrower role - harsh on whichever backrower there currently that would miss out, but Barbeary offers something that no other does (bar Binny) in pure strength/brutality.

Bit of a forgotten man now, but Lozowski had a good game n all

Odd game, senior players (bar maybe Bassett/Youngs) didn't really do much.

On the other hand youngsters played very well (Atkinson, Porter, Barbeary and West).

Alfie is a bit of an oddity as just seems to have more time than everyone else and to want it more than everyone. Oghre throwing is awful atm but open play is good.

Didn't think the ref was that bad, made a few errors in judgement but 100% a red card.

Aye, overall a good game but he had two clangers back to back early on (not the red: that was the right call, though inevitably social media will have people saying otherwise)
Barbearys first try should've been a free kick or penalty (probably the former) to Montpellier because he ran into his own man before scoring
And then he somehow missed the knockon in the tackle, on the Wasps line, even when going to the TMO

ahhhh got ya. Agree with both points, was surprised that they didn't got back for Alfie's try as we had the penalty and it was clearly accidental offside.

Atkinson's arm in the tackle looked accidental but clearly a knock on.
Also thoughts on Paolo at 13? looks better there than he ever has on the wing

Aye, Paolo looks great at 13
He looked decent as a winger but nothing particularly special - always seemed to be better at 7s, but the move to 13 has worked so much better than I would have guessed
Definitely benefiting from the increased game time as well - hard to improve when you're not getting consistent minutes

Love Barbeary's rambunctious style. But the demands of the club and international game are different.

It's great that he can play back row so well but I really want to see what he can do at hooker.

IF he can master the set piece I think the sky's the limit for him at hooker - he'll bring a real point of difference. He could be very good in the back row but I don't think his ceiling is quite so high there and we have plenty of good options already.

Doris out, Ruddock to 8 Murphy in at 6 and Frawley on the bench.

James Ryan has only played 10 more club games than international games
That's mental

Tom Curry has played 20 more times for Sale and is 2yrs younger

To be fair Ryan is a fairly unique situation, was capped for Ireland before his senior debut and was first choice for Ireland before Leinster.
