Euro 2020[1]

I hate football fans as a whole. I think they are an embarrassment and that is across the globe.
People are people. We're all tribal at the end of the day it's just that most of us can realise that it's all a load of bollix and there's far more important things in life.

Rugby only appears better because it's such a minority game. If it had footballs numbers it'd be exactly the same. It's just as tribal. In fact, we had some Wales and England rugby fans not exactly covering themselves in glory on social media this 6N.

Yep, unfortunately we have idiots from all walks of life. Made worse by Tribalism in sport and nationalism when it comes to Politics. They lose all sense of perspective.

Oh dear!

Television pictures showed a green light on Schmeichel's face just before Harry Kane took an extra-time penalty.
So, UEFA charged England because this green light:
- was a sort of insult?
- probably disturbed Scmeichel during the penalty?
I didn't understand this moment

Someone shone what looks like a laser pen at him. Obviously didn't have too much of an impact but still awful form

The only thing that really ****** me off about that lazergate article is Johnson coming out and saying don't boo national anthems. Wouldn't ******* say it at the beginning the tournament for booing our team.

I've seen stuff online suggesting that kind of light has been seen before and turned out to be a rangefinder for a pro cameraman. Schmeichel didn't seam affected and you'd have thought he would of raised it with the officials if he was. If it was a fan, get him instead instead of the FA its impossible to police just one guy.

Tribalism is ideal for those who have achieved **** all as individuals and have nothing else to cling on to.

Controversial opinion but I'm not really a fan of "respect the kicker" in rugby. I say boo and whistle as much as you like, it adds to the theatre. No one expects fans to respect a penalty taker in football.

Anthems are a no go, though.

I agree with you. A kicker nailing a pressure kick away from home in a cauldron of booing and jeering is a great spectacle. Conversely I also enjoy watching opposition fans applauding a great piece of skill by an opposition team/player.

Nah booing in general has not place in sport, I don't mind some gentle sledging (or **** taking to be more precise) from the stands.

Now if they were cheering or doing whatever the noise is fans make where a bowlers take his run up in cricket I'm all for it.

Its the kind of noise.

I don't mind booing/jeering/sledging within reason. Certain places have their traditions when it comes to a place kicker taking a kick and I won't refrain from calling Zebo fat when he's in the RDS but racism, personal and family issues beyond just being a prick etc... Are off limits.

Always thought he looked like Luke Fitzgerald... Must be a see you next Tuesday thing.

Anyway... Italy, notorious winners at finals tournaments.* England? Something similar?

*I'd exclude 94 but coming second in the best world cup ever and only losing to one team (penos officially being a draw) ain't that bad.

Depends how you look at it:

England 100% in major tournament finals before this one;).

Italy - loser of the last two Euro Finals they've played in.

It's a new final with two sets of players few of whom have yet to reach a final of a major international tournament. IIRC only Chiellini for Italy was in the 2012 side for Italy.

But A few players for England who have reached the CL, Europa league finals, so good experience there.

Expecting a cagey one as most finals are. England can lose if they play too timid and don't play to win - racked by fear. Italy for sure can win.

There is no destiny in sport or meant to win and whoever wins will deserve it ultimately, by playing the better on the day. Needs to be said as peeps, media Bojo here are already getting carried away, which inevitably leads to a massive let down if England do lose on Sunday.

We already know other home nations hate us and can't wait to put the boot in if England lose. We don't care. If England win it would be all the sweeter.

FYI WC 1994 was a pretty bad WC from memory with games at bad Times and finished by an awful, dull final. Granted England didn't qualify for the finals and ROI did and upset Italy in the Group stages. Only good game was Brazil v Holland.
