Euro 2020[1]

I don't really care that much if England win the football. I'd prefer it if they didn't, obviously, but I don't really care. Nothing like the rugby. The thought of England beating SA in the final made me physically sick.
English rugby v football fans, it really comes down to whether you prefer people who are Tories because they're rich or people who are Tories because they're racist.

What does English rugby represent for you?

To be fair, I like England rugby fans. Whenever we beat them they always just say "at least it wasn't Wales" and take it well. Haven't been around any when we lost though so that could change if we ever lose to them again.

I've never thought about distinguishing 'English rugby' from 'rugby', which to me is the game that I learned in a state comprehensive, then started playing at a local club. Fairly typical for an English rugby fan from the Midlands.

If you'd asked what the RFU means to me, then yes it's old posh blokes who haven't quite got over losing the raj. But I'm not sure that's very different at the FA, or the ECB, or most other sports national associations and governing bodies.

Stiff upper lip and that, if we lose to Wales around Welsh people we say 'at least it wasn't Ireland'

Its always an odd one from my pespective too about Rugby being for public school boys in the Westcountry/Midlands its still very much played by people of all walks (although predominantly middle class people who can't afford public school).

Did they boo that bad? It wasn't anywhere near as bad as it was in the Germany game but maybe it's just me. I definitely didn't hear any fireworks but I wasn't really paying attention.
