Isn't Thompson a bit old for an England call up? Isn't he 28 or so thing like that.

When we've lost 2 open sides I'm not sure that the age of the player being called up should be the priority, more just getting the best player that's left available. That said, I don't think he is the best player still available, there's still Kvesic.

I can only assume Kvesic has sh*gged Jones' wife or something.

Does this mean that the 7 shirt more or less belongs to Williams now? (Eddie) Jones said that him and (Sam) Jones were the main candidates and now Sam's out. He did also hint at Itoje going 7, but I can't see that happening.

Itoje going 7 is no less likely than Williams going there imo.

The idea of 'Itoje at 7' sounds off - but isn't it really just a re-packaged way of he and Robshaw playing left and right. Or a way of sort of playing Robshaw at 7 without actually saying so?

I've said for weeks that my solution would be to move Itoje on to the flank and bring Launch in at lock. Regardless of shirt number, I think it's been our best option all along. Even more so now.

I'd still call up Thompson as Jones' injury replacement though.

I think that the NPC/Mitre Cup and the streamlined system is one of the biggest reasons why NZ stays so dominant at all levels. In every team sport it is said that the ages of 18-21 are probably the most important for development, the most import component being game time. Yes it's true that in England there are players who get the opportunity to play in the Prem if they are good enough, are lucky through an injury in the squad, or in most cases loaned out to a lower league club, and in Wales' case loaned out to the feeder Welsh Prem clubs. But it isn't the same level of cohesive steps up before you hit the big time or the standard across the board at the development stage.

Bath:
Charlie Ewels - Brick wall in defence, only ran into brick walls with the ball - didn't really notice him beyond that.

George Ford - Made sure Bath played in the right places, whether by boot or by hand; 1 moment of magic when defenders sat off him; didn't really have much of a platform, and no-one offering options outside him. Kicking 1/3 + 1DG but bear in mind the standing water - that pitch must have been utterly hazardous for kicking.
Jonathan Joseph - DNP - leg injury.
Semesa Rokoduguni - Looked dangerous when he had the ball, but never really had any space to work with. Maybe could have gone looking for work a bit more, but I don't think there was much point given what else was going on.
Anthony Watson - Got on the score board, looked dangerous when he had the ball, but never really had any space to work with.

Oh right, have you never noticed it before? Luckily most of the time he's wearing a scrum cap.

It's gone now though hasn't it? It was either if we got the grand slam or whitewashed Australia he said he'd get rid of it. That's the LDC mullet and Nowells rat tail away. Who next? Have a whip around to get Auterac sheared?

That's what I heard too but when I saw him in Exeter last week it was still there. Don't think he can bear to see it go. The LCD mullet's gone though. Think that's what was faltering his lineouts.

Auterac's had that haircut since he was a nipper... can't see him getting rid of it.
