EOYT: Ireland v South Africa, 11/10/2012

Japan twice, Italy, Argentina.
First two in 2005 (Lions tour at the same time), last two in 2007.

Ah right, well then. Twice when everyone was away and twice when EOS was looking at people for the World Cup. Eddie didn't like Brennan or Casey, which explains their lack of caps.

For lulz, we capped Matthew Jones, Ben Broster, and Richie Pugh in 2005; Will James and Ceri Jones in 2007, so no worries.

Slightly off topic - does anyone watch 'rugby club' on Sky? Not one mention of any other squad / team other than England which is quite ridiculous really.
A show about English rugby doesn't mention anyone else?
Madness! Next you'll be telling me Scrum V isn't covering Bedford vs Pirates!

My optimism is returning I know it annoys some but yeah it's back. Some stuff like Zebo at fullback and RO'G on the bench make me cringe. Mike McCarthy is actually an excellen pick I hadn't considered for whatever reason. Brilliant athlete with a real dog about him. Has also really improved at the lineouts. Tuohy is quite unlucky. I'm also delighted to see Kilcoyne and Henderson on the bench hope he gets a good run. It's a team I think which can play with a real chip on their shoulders which is necessary for playing teams like S.A.. Also happy Henry gets a shot with him PO'M, Healy and Strauss we should be competitive at ruck time. I think we could sneak a win. Then probably almost lose to Fiji.

Probably the one time you want Lambie over Steyn.

I don't understand and my Jimmies are unsure if rustled.

Taute has a big boot, Hougaard and Pietersen are also able to kick up-and-unders if necessary.

TBH I don't care if Zebo has no experience at 15 I hate to see us kick GOOD possession away and will be glad if we don't 'target' Zebo. I say kick for space and kick for touch if we need to kick. Between Kruger and Etzebeth we can out the Irish line-out under just as much pressure as the kick-and-chase will do their back 3 IMO. I'm all for a territory based game plan but if we are in their half I want us to back our ball carriers and try for an off-load and support game which the like of Pienaar, Lambie, Taute, Pietersen, Alberts, Louw and Coetzee are all more than familiar with.

I don't see Lambie as the SA flyhalf messiah (that'd be Goosen if he can avoid injury for 3 games straight) but he is a better option than Steyn IMO.

I agree with you. but the Irish shouldn't rule out the plan of bombs, just because we're playing a running fly half. All that this is going to do is vary our game more. that being said, looking at our backline with Lambie in the fly half channel, I expect us to go wide every time we're in their half. Mvovo will be the fastest guy on the field right?

I have nothing against the occasional bomb if it's accurately placed, well chased and not the only attacking option used. A lot depends on the weather conditions as well I suppose.

Why aren't we kicking for touch anymore? That second relegation game of the cheetahs was a shitty one but Sias Ebersohn kicked for touch and bounced it out in their 22 or just outside of it a few times. Suddenly they have a line out in their 22 and we have a chance of stealing. Much better than the kick and chase gameplan, and Lambie is an accurate kicker..

Too many aimless kicks down the middle (CC final it was Joe Pietersen) have kickers turned into stupid dimwits?

Add to that the fact that we had- and probably still do- a better line-out than our the opposition (at least 8/10 games we'll have the dominant line-out) and the idiocy becomes shear lunacy. I blame the staff TBH.

Lol... BG8 thinks that just because Morne isn't playing, we won't be using the bombers on Zebo...

He forgot that Lambie, Kirchner and Pienaar are all good kickers...

Nah I'm just stirring ****. I see Pienaar every week and watch a lot of S.A. rugby I know they're all capable just as I know some people kinda love Lambie hence why it''s by itself.

Yeah Zebo would be our fastest player and Mvovo is faster than him. If he gets on I'd say we can handle him as our wingers are strong defensively and he's fairly predictable. We'll just cut his space down.

This just in...

Beast Mtwawarira has been withdrawn from the team after suffering from Heart palpitations this morning and is in hospital for observation.

CJ van der Linde will take his place in the starting 15 and Heinke van der Merwe will be on the subs bench.

Big blow for us!!

Ai Stormer, as ons maar net op die coaching team was!

Hope Beast will be okay.

This isn't the first time he had it. Happened previously during the Super 15 last year I think?? (Eze or Draggs to correct me)...

Hope he'll be okay.
Earlier this year, aye.

Don't let Eze see CJ... Please god, have mercy on us.

I get to involved in this I'm pumped enough to run out myself.

Etzebeth is the S.A. player being talked up the most by our media pretty worthy of it. Can't wait to see him against Henderson.

EDIT: Mike Ross is the Batman.

And so begins the 20 minute lineup in Dublin.
First they must all shake hands, then a pub quiz, ceremonial photo, karaoke duel, anthems, another round of handsakes.
