[EOYT] Ireland v Australia 16/11/13

Yeah Jared Payne from Ulster is irish qualified next season, plays 13/15 and is a more than adequate replacement, runs some excellent lines. & it's good since he and Marshall play together. :)

I forgot about him. Poaching ******** ;)

EDIT: Argh. The filtering system won't let me call you poaching ba5tards. I will show it who is boss (ironically typing the word boss made me think of Isaac Boss :) ).

Yeah, Payne's a good operator
Passive aggresive comment about how England are known as the poachers despite Ireland actively recruiting players and waiting for them to become qualified.

Payne will fill a void for about two year tops. The future is Stuart Oldong though, absolutely wonderful player (and not even from Leinster, to give a bit of context to my praise.)

PR got Oirland by 5. Wow, so the Wallabies are absolutely considered the weaker side here. Of course I see where this is coming from in hindsight of all the events that have occurred this year, but I'd have imagined a little more resistance favoring Australia a little. No, everybody sees Ireland winning this.
I wonder how Ireland will choose to contain and counter Australia. Surely the Irish forwards will play a big role here.

If Ireland win here they'll be ranked 5th and displace France; France and Wales don't have much to gain this round as their opposition are just ranked too low.

what ?! ohhh...fk me. I'm not even happy with the 5th place !! :p

Some added motivation for cheering on Australia then.

You know France could very easily end up at 7th after the November tests, right. If all goes conservatively except that Ireland beats Australia thsi week and SA beats France the next... but lets wait and see.

Well I personally would predict Australia and France will win those, we'll see. France 7th ? That's just wrong...considering the abundance of talent, and at every single position, that's just ridiculous. Oh well.
On the other hand, we DID just play the All-Blacks 4 straight times, during a year of complete abyssal doubt and confusion...so the current 5th is honorable I suppose. But still, 7th would look just...well frustrating.

I think with regards this match you'd find a lot more likeminded people if you had a look at green and gold rugby. I looked at some comments and I had to make sure they weren't all you. :D

To be ranked 5th after one win in nine this year isn't something to complain about Yoe. Wales should be above France but for the youth team going to Japan.

that vid actually made me laugh. Good humor :D well at least the first minute.
But man, "globalization" really hit Ireland hard huh ? If you gave those two guys a standard American accent, this whole thing would be 100% American. Just the accent. The editing style, the director giving the actor a nickname type vibe...I didn't realize Ireland had become so American.
Anyways.

Just so we're clear:
I think there's a good chance Ireland will win this, I just went for Australia, close call had I gone either way I wouldn't be all that confident, went the Wallaby route. In part for the reasons I've exposed earlier. Yes, the Aussie back-line is better, for me at least. I firmly, firmly believe that.

And if the ppl at Green and Gold are saying Aussies have a better back line they're not exactly being blindingly biased ! :D

I meant in terms of the side's quality, regardless of the actual results this year. I know we lost 7 matches...
Wales ? they were coming off EIGHT STRAIGHT DEFEATS and even lost to Japan after that, B team or not.

No matter how 2013 ends, 2014 is the year for France anyways, I'm sure.

I eagerly await the 6N opener in Paris!

There isn't enough in your comment to know if you're being cynical, but...I really really do myself ! I think we're gonna win it next year, we'll see...Tonga and SA first of all.

Schmidt referred to Henshaw as the front runner not that long ago.

Any recommendations on a way to watch tomorrow? Preferably without paying the Setanta lot.

Worth a mention that Chris Pollock (he who dared penalise BO'D...twice in the first test) is reffing. I don't think we'll get as much from the breakdown as last week.

Also interesting that most Aussie's seem to think we will play a similar gameplan to 2011 and choke tackle a lot. While we still do some choke tackles with players like Ross, McCarthy and Sexton preferring them, I would say there has been more of a focus on the chop tackle in the provinces this year.

Yep, if the 1st Lions test is anything to go by; Chris Pollock referees the breakdown by strictly applying that the defending player must show he has fully released the tackled player before going for the ball; he must also remain on his feet when he going for the ball, with no part of his body being supported by the ground or the tackled player; hence why BOD was penalised in that 1st test. Pollock did not like that BOD did not show him the two separate movements and his elbows were on the ground when going for the turnover. This pretty much means Pollock favours the attacking team and penalises the hell out of the defending team as he wants a rugby league style free flowing game at the breakdown. So Ireland better be the team on the front foot and only go for a turnover if it really is on.

Whereas I think a Northern Hemisphere refs are a little more lenient in their interpretation of the breakdown, which favours the defending team.
