England vs Canada - 10/07/21

Neither lock showing why they should be in the squad and we do need some more locks of the future.

Thing is that try is only possible because of repeated penalties putting England under pressure.

Canada are worse than most teams in the prem tbh

Yes.
But the thing is in a international setup you need to be able to gel with player with only a couple weeks together.
At quins he will know everyone and everyone knows him, he's clearly struggling a bit to get on the same wavelength at times.

That's where more experience comes into play.

I think Smith has been fine. It's easier to look competent when all you do is kick it up in the air, like Farrell/Ford. It'd probably be 17-14 if Farrell was at FH.

I think he's young and looking to impress. However we have an issue at FH with Farrell being useless and Ford being inconsistent. Smith has been the best 10 by far this year.

In the premiership.
He's not exactly shown the controlling ability against USA or Canada.

He's only 22 and yes he's still young but that's the reason why he shouldn't IMO be rushed into International rugby, same goes for players like Steward etc.

If we are playing say South Africa in the AI's would you currently based on the games the past couple weeks start Smith over Farrell or Ford even with their flaws.

Everyone said Smith was too young to play 10 for Premiership champions Harlequins...

He's clearly very, very good. He's clearly capable of improving rapidly when challenged (a much better kicking day today, for instance.)

If we want to be able to perform like France, we have to pick players capable of doing it (yet also kicking for territory and controlling the game when necessary.)

It's preferable to Farrell/Ford-esque kicking the ball away when in the oppontent's 22. There's no way that either of them have exactly controlled games in the 6N recently.

You know that's orders from the coach right?
All 10's play to their coaches calls the ones who don't tend to not get picked (ala Cipriani).
