England vs Australia - 09/11/24

Surely with this new obstruction thing, the chasers also need to not change their angle. They need to be running in a straight line towards the catcher and that guy seemed to put CCS between him and Sleightholm before angling into him.
I think the emphasis is on the defenders to make more effort rather than the attacker.

Yuck, that was a bad 20mins. Started well, everyone was given a different instruction for the defence and the team building exercise obviously failed as they're all doing their own thing

Defended the fringe appallingly

Yeah, the defenders are the ones who are offside in that situation.

If your onside, you're allowed to run as you like.
If you're offside, your not allowed to intefere with play (but allowed to obey the laws of physics, so have to be predictable)

Similar pattern. When England have a good start they then lose concentration and fall away massively in the second 20. Defence was excellent for the first 20, we pushed them back, made majority of tackles and won the collision, then second 20 was complete opposite.

I'm biased but Steward form this season had been great, I feel he should get a start next week
With the new law around not being able to block for the receiver there's defiantly a case to be made. Furbank didn't get into last week's game much and isn't for this one. Can afford to have someone more direct at 12 with him in the side though.

Attack looked functional early as smith was allowed to play his game, joe seems to have figured an attack that works around the blitz though, not perfect in execution but heavy offload and darting at the breakdown has been pretty lethal when it goes, personally think thats backwards and we are slightly lucky to not be down by 4 more at the half.

If we had a Marchant instead of Slade in the backs I would agree but outside of OL there hasn't been a point difference in the middle

So I don't think Finn Smith sets up that second try but the amount of times England don't play rugby in the right parts of the pitch is mad (can say the same about us now). I really think he's your best option.

Suaalii looks proper tasty with time though, great offloads and that pat back on the itoje was mad, guy was flying. If england wanted a big offloading centre league is where they are, farnsworth pearce paul etc…

Its mixed messaging tbh, smith goes from being told to do a faz impression to opening it up to keeping it tight again on a half by half basis. No wonder it is all over the place when one weeks the attack is allowed to go and the next its kick everything

England look lethargic...
Furbank has reverted to the player who first came in to the side under Eddie
Spencer chasing shadows
Defence...they look lost
Slade.....just not sure
And why is Dombrandt in the squad?!

Feel like Randell could make a huge difference in attack, almost doing what their 9s done to England create a tempo the opposition cannot live with, I did rate Spencer highly but his best years are behind him and sometimes there's no substitute for pace and tempo.
