England v France

As an aside, Wilkinson only needs 2pts from this match to overtake Carter in leading points scorer in history

Like South Africa in the autumn, this game is there for England to win it. Hopefully we step up to the mark this time.

I am less concerned about this game than I am about visiting Dublin.

Hape copes quite well with people who run at him looking for offloads.

This said... if France turn up in form, its going to be very difficult. All things being equal, I'd expect form and home advantage to see us through, but I do think they are a better team if they find everything going for them. I also think England have been flattered by their opposition.

I hope England win so we can stop them winning a Grand Slam :) it'd be almost like winning one :p

Really can't see French doing the business here

France almost always play badly against England, lets hope this is no exception and England stay in the amazing form they are in! I think it will be close like last year. 24-19 to England I think!

You know someone in Star Trek said something similar ... 'Make it so' ...

I'd love to be as confident as some of you going into the next match, but i have a constant fear that england are going to slip up, and all the hype about how well we ARE playing is going to be thrown out by the media. Im
no saying england are playing well, becuase i think we are playing some of the best rugby we have since 2003, and this has to be our strongest chance of winning the 6N since. Is it too good to be true? english fans should sympathise with my scepticism In all fairness I think that playing france at home, will be significantly easier than playing ireland at the aviva, with the irish out to prevent a grandslam and all. France look weak in defensive, and on attack with slow ball underpressure. However with quick ball Im worried about englands defense as it has yet to be really tested. The irish looked pretty average, however i will credit their intesity, ferocity and competitiveness at the breakdown generating many turnovers. An area for england to watch out for no doubt.

Heres to a grandslam. Hopefully :s

Well, the lord has said it is so and the French win the Slam.

Damn your holy word Chabal. Damn you. :(

I think England will win by 5 tindall and hape are bulky enough to
meet the bulky French centre head on And so won't get run over(unlike the Irish 12)
I think this would be a good
game to Bring wilko on for 30 rather than 20 mins he scares the Shite outta the French i hope :p

any report on on lawes and croft's injuries

Don't think I'd bring them back even if they were fit,
They've both had serious injuries, I wouldn't want to rush them into international rugby straight off of the bat

excuse my ignorence, wheres flutey ?

I'd also like to say well done to the English for producing a fine half back in Youngs!

He's in the EPS, but Hape is Johnson's flavour of the month (probably because Flutey was injured over the summer, so Johnson brought in Hape, England started performing because of the change in gameplans, so Johnson's not dropping him because he's part of the more successful England squad, whereas Flutey played when England were fairly poo)

You can see where he's coming from. While Hape's a fairly limited player, he's part of a winning system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This, and it genuinely is part of a system. In attack, England's centres solely to straighten ball and crash it up. Hape does that better than Flutey and gets the nod. The back three are there to attack space and pass the ball.

The fact that England aren't short of centres who can do that and add extra, many of whom have more solid defence, doesn't really interest them. They'd rather get that extra ounce of grunt.
