England v France

And the 2nd half (unfortunately) started how i thought it would.... France hitting the self destruct button :( :( :( Hopefully they can get back on track

So far France deserves to win. I don't understand referee decisions about scrums.

pffff Huget...WTF is this guy doing on the pitch. He's done nothing, nothing but mistakes.

There is nothing to understand, Clancy is getting it right, he is asking for the players to bind on the shirt and not the arm. Mas and Domingo have been put under pressure by Cole and Corbs / Sheridan all game.

Well Congrats to England for performing in the 2nd half. France didn't seem to wake up (in some ways they played themselves out of the match - along with bounce of the ball etc). Exiting match despite not being massively high scoring. BBC Talking about Grandslam for england, definitely feel its true (even if i dont want it :p). Can't see anyone else beating them now, not with the tempo and confidence they have. So its just now who will finish 2nd-6th. On the plus side, Wales are 2nd :D :D (for today at least)

Same here about Huget. Lièvremont is so stubborn trying to make him an impact player. I also think that we have the weakest locks in Europe: Pierre, Nallet, Thion...

I'm really skeptic about the penalties in scrums. How do yo explain that it is the first time in years we were penalized like that? Anyway, our scrum was way stronger than England's on impacts so no doubt things will get back to normal next time.

All in all, I'll sum up the game like this: remake of France Vs Australia, very good first half, then nothing. Shame but it's getting better.

Good performance from England, very solid to stop a french team scoring tries against you. Hape REALLY needs to go though, does **** all. Recon Hartleys gonna get banned for throwing punches after that 1st scrum. Wilko looked surprising good as well :) Very pleased with this win :D

Something slightly off topic but still regarding something to do with the game.

Should International squads now follow what the Magners and Avia do and have 8 subs and 3 of them front row replacements? England had to sub Sheridan early and just felt that the IRB should look into bringing 8 subs and have a match day squad of 23. I know it was one scrum but surely the 23 man squad trial is working and surely the IRB should follow suite and get it sorted?

It's the 1st time you've been up against a good front row lol, playing against arguably the best 3 in the world and the most likely to be the best 2.

Don't like to report the cause on one man, but this is time is only because of Yach.

Stupid kick in the 22 in the first minutes of the 2 half, blocked by England, wich drived to a try
2 quite easy penalties missed, the first one critical that could have made us lead at the end of the first half
Won't talk about the awfull passes on attacks that are causes for knock ons and blocked kickings

Strange ref on scrums (also the quick lineout played after Traille's kick (shot) on the videoman) ...

A fully fit Welsh front row would have something to say about that.

That was a really tough game. Credit to France they were 100% commited but it's great to see England win ugly after the slaughter of Italy. They were so great hits tonight both sides deserve credit.

Definitely - uncontested scrums are w*nk
I don't get the French fans saying Clancy was crap in the scrum - He gave the same penalties to France that he gave to England - very consistent

Glad with the win, tight first half, slightly better in the second
Anyone clock Harinordoquoy gouging Haskell/Palmer/Fourie (it was a scrum capped player) in the driving maul towards the end? Raked him across the eyes ones, saw he got away with it and went back for seconds

Thought Corbs did well again, Wood had a great game - Flood looked a little off the boil, wayward passes etc. - Haskell had a good game as well

Agree with that although I didn't notice the gouging. Thought Tindall was great in the second half aswell and deserved a try

Congrats Olyy, Bullitt and all the English people with this win over France. Only Scotland at home to beat to snatch the Grand Slam win in Dublin

How do you explain the fact that the ball took ages to come out of the scrums everytime England had it? It is just because the hooker couldn't stand the pressure. Anyway, the best 2 in the world is Servat of course :]

Youngs had a stinker I thought. Two matches and no complaints about the ref. Goooooood stuff.

.....yeah?
Ball still came out in the end, doesn't matter how slowly!

I thought Tindalls try should've been, after seend the replay - wasn't held on the ground at all, and didn't even stop/lose momentum

Thought Youngs looked good in the first 10-15mins, then average the rest - apart from messing up the 3 on 1 overlap by kicking, don't think he did anything wrong, his passes went to hand etc. though I agree he wasn't as good as he could have been
