England Six Nations thread

A scrum containing ELR, Buckley and Gray would be immense
Maassssssssssssssss

Oh wait...

because girth.

Huh? Best England back against the Wolfhounds. Showed some real class touches.

You think?

I thought at 15 he was out of the game too much, was better when he moved to centre after the break (if I'm remembering this right).

I just think he needs to be closer to the action, just feel that at 15 he's coasting.

Vunipola's out for the rest of the tournament. Anyone else totally comfortable with Morgan replacing him? I guess having these two at the same time means the coaches can tell Billy to smash everything for 60 minutes and replace him pretty much like-for-like, but that's not going to be an option now, I can't see anyone around the squad with the same ability as either of these guys. Who comes onto the bench now? I really don't want to go back to a Johnson at 6, Wood moving back to 8 situation. If that's the way they're going to go, I'd love to see Kvesic on for Morgan, Wood to 8 and Robshaw to 6. Bit of a wild card, but how's Haskell been playing recently?

Kvesic.

Mark my words - he will be as important to us as Launchbury is.

We need to give him experience - he is simply better than Johnson and he has decent experience of playing 8.

Billy is out for the rest of the tournament.

Kvesic into the match day squad, Morgan to start for me. Although I'd quite like Easter to get a call for one last hurrah.

EDIT: Damn, beaten both to the news and the 'Kvesic in' statement.

I really do hope Kvesic gets a chance. Apparently had his biggest game of the season last weekend and has been quietly improving out of the spotlight (as is Gloucester in general).

Who would have thought England could play as many as 4 Gloucester players, after the season we've had?

Interested to know whether you mean that. I don't watch him often. How good would you say can he be? Compared to the other major 7's in European rugby?

Launch to 6, Wood to bench, sorted.

Would be bad news for Kvesic mind.

That..............makes hideous amounts of sense.
Attwood has impressed in his short cameos, Launchbury has been immense in the loose, and Wood hasn't really impressed (not been bad by a long shot, but not stood out as much as Mr Berry).

Kvesic would still be on the bench, wouldn't he? Unless they didn't want lock cover only from the pitch and brought Slater into the 23.

And that's not just you being 'horny' for an openside? I like what I've seen of him, always. But I've just been watching the first half against Ireland and Tom Wood is phenomenal. He's bloody everywhere. Can we do without that?

If its possible, the stuff Wood does is even less flash than Robshaw. He hits rucks endlessly and tackles guys he has no right to tackle.

I don't care really, Haskell would be fine on the bench but would feel like a bit of a backwards step.... Kvesic imho is over rated - in my admittedly limited viewing every game i've seen him in he's dissapeared.

I reckon wood will end up covering 8 - which is a bad option.

Wood and Launchbury are this teams richard hill :)

Wood is fantastic but he's not an 8.

On paper makes a huge amount of sense. only qualm would be that as far as I remember Launchbury never looked that convincing at 6 for Wasps last year. However he is about twice the player he was in the 12/13 season, so I wouldn't be adverse to this being tried out.

I can't see them dropping Wood and bringing Attwood in, the balance is really nice at the moment, I think this might change things too much.

What worries me is where the power runner is coming from with 20 minutes, left. We're going to lose that, whoever we choose, unless there's a power back we could put on. Suprising call up for Tuillagi seems unlikely, maybe they could go the other way and use Watson and Eastmond but, well, hell freezing over and all that. I'm concerned about how this changes our game plan for the last 20 minutes of the game.

Having said that, our tactics in the last 10 minutes seems to be hit anything ridiculously hard and try to hold onto the lead, not much thought put into attack, admittedly due to us not seeing much of the ball. So maybe all we really need is a good tackler and a fresh presence at the breakdown. Attwood and Kvesic, then, I guess. Or Johnson.

Please not Johnson.

Fair play we have quite a horrendous injury list ! If anyone else in the 6N had the amount of injuries we have they would be absolutely ****e

Just from memory we are short

Corbisiero
Cole
Parling
Croft
Billy V
Tuilagi
Yarde
Wade
Foden

There's 9 players there none in the same position either ! Another few injuries and we would have a whole team lol

Let's have a look at the stats from Argentina, where Matt, Tom and Joe were playing in the same team for the full 80 in both games.

Matt Kvesic: 41 Metres made -- 1 CB -- 6 DB -- 3 OL -- 36 tackles made -- 0 tackles missed

Tom Wood: 34 Metres made -- 0 CB -- 0 DB -- 2 OL -- 27 tackles made -- 2 tackles missed

Launchbury: 12 Metres made -- 1 CB -- 1 DB -- 4 OL -- 28 tackles made -- 2 tackles missed

I don't think you need to worry about workrate.

Anyone suggesting dropping tom wood is mental! He is part of the glue to the team.

Please remember that Attwood only looks so good playing for short periods of time. If he plays longer he would tire and not have the same work rate. We need a player like him on the bench not starting at the expense of another player.

Kvesic is not ready for England. I have been dissapointed with him for Gloucester although recently he has improved but he's had an average season. There's been times this season when he couldn't even get in Gloucester's team. Imo the player who deserves the come in is Sam Dickinson. He has been brilliant this season and impressed for the Saxons.
