England Six Nations thread

SSN saying England are hopeful of Yarde, Foden and Corbisiero playing some part in the 6N .

If true that's pretty good news especially with Corbs he's probably the best LH in the NH to be honest

It's slightly ironic that Burrell and barritt are considered at outside centre having not started there this season.

In fact May should now have more experience at outside centre than both of them!

Bizarre.

Good news for Yarde and Foden. But I agree with Aristodemus, Corbs should be kept rested. We have a could of good prospects who can at worst plug the whole he leaves and at best be very good props themselves. Obviously I'd prefer Corbs over them but not if he's just going to play two games and then break again.

As for the Burrell/Barritt at OC thing. Its pretty odd but thats how England rugby seems to work when it comes to backs selection.

I wouldn't want to see Corbs until the summer at the earliest.
We need him fit for 2015, so give him as long as he needs...and then a bit more, to get 100% right.

Is someone going round attacking the England team? We are picking up injuries left right and centre.

Stooke - Phenomenal player, potentially an England great. Shame for Kitchener, but Stooke should have been in the original squad anyway.

JJ - Unlucky to get an injury whilst scoring a try for Bath. Hopefully short term.

Tait - Possibly missed his last opportunity to gain any more caps.

Will Collier and Jaimie Gibson are also ruled out.

Matt Hopper, Rob Miller and Tom Mercey called in as replacements.

Stooke and Kitchener would make one hell of a second row pairing . Was amazed to see in the ulster game how fast Kitchener is !

Miller's played a bit of wing so would be good bench cover.
Would prefer to see him start, though, obv :p

What's that left the side looking like then?
Something like:

1. Waller
2. Ward
3. Collier
4. Kruis
5. Stooke
6. Clark
7. Wallace
8. Ewers
9. Simpson
10. Burns
11. Varndell
12. Hill
13. Daly**
14. Rokoduguni
15. Miller**

16. George
17. Catt
18. Wilson
19. Matthews
20. Dickinson
21. Lewis
22. Slade
23. Hopper

Not too shabby of a side, to be fair! Basically no international experience in the bunch, but exciting players in 1-23, pretty much.

**Think with Tait out we'll see Daly as first choice 15, Hopper at 13 and Miller on the bench.

I'd start George I think . Didn't it say collier was injured ?

Woops, so it did.
Tom Mercey or Scott Wilson then, flip a coin.

I'm a fan of Jamie George, but Ward has been excellent for Quins this season, arguably the form English hooker atm.

No one cares, Chris.
We have a 19yr old who is better than you at literally every aspect of the game. Be gone!

Chris Ashton, completely forgetting that his ability nosedived before Lancaster took over and his much vaunted period of greatness was made up in no small part by one of England's biggest wins over Italy. At one point he had a scoring record of 1 try every 2 games. That is NOT a good record. It's not that the team is too rigid, it's that he is actually poor and it's only that Sarries are able to hide that that makes him appear remotely good. Same with Alex Goode.

He's like 28 though isn't he ? I'd like to see it used for youngsters like someone said above when I mentioned monye and opened my eyes a bit :)

Ashton's a one-trick pony, whose trick was a very good one at one point. His all-round game is below international standard though. I feel sorry for him in a way though. He lived off linking up with good players in Youngs, Flood and Foden, back in his England glory days. No one he's played with recently quite has the pace or vision to give him the opportunities to shine. Flood would used to give some lovely weighted passes and offloads. And when a clean break occurred, Foden would link up with Ashton really well. Brown's great and all, but he's not quite the broken field runner that Foden was at his best. England now play the territory game, and for the most part it makes Ashton useless.

In another sense though, I have absolutely no sympathy. He made the silly decision to go to the Sarries. Anyone could have told him that the Sarries play style doesn't suit him. And whilst he's been there, he's not shown any signs of improving his all-round game, despite being surrounded by coaches that evidently know what they are doing. His decisions and development were in his own hands, and he's bottled it. Time for someone else.
