Yeh but would you break the playing for clubs outside of England for a 30 year old?

No, I'd tell him to sign for an English club before I picked him... then break the rule for lulz afterwards.

Ah only those agree with your parochial viewpoint then?

This! Everyone seems so obsessed with picking a 20 year-old in every position. Who won MOTM tonight?

Says something more about the rest of the squad IMO.

Yes if they are good enough they should play but we need to be looking at building relative depth (like NZ has with Mccaw and Cane) Lancaster ATM seems to find a player he likes and never sub them like Robshaw and Farrell.

Thought I'd post this here from this morning's Wail on Sunday:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ru...outvoted-tearful-moment-went-wrong-coach.html

Trying to read through the spin, propaganda, and stirring it has a few interesting parts:

- Catt was apparently strongly supportive of Burgess' inclusion

- Lancaster was outvoted on Burgess, which doesn't put his "I always have the final say on selection" argument in good light

- Possible "promotion" sideways into a Head of Professional Coach Development role (not a bad place to put him in my opinion)

- Miscellaneous mawkish padding and rubbish to lengthen the article

The Wail has generally had a good source of leaks from the camp for a while now, so they seem fairly reliable --as far as press go-- for this sort of thing.

I think I've posted before that this would be an my ideal role for him - I shan't get my hopes up, but this is definitely the best ending for Lancaster in my book. I would also suggest that our coaching structures are one of the weakest parts of our rugby culture.

Interesting that they are asserting he is "expected to resign" - is that by general consensus, or is that the expectation of his superiors, I wonder?

Exactly my thoughts, Peat - he almost certainly has the skills required to do a better job than someone at the RFU is already doing - put him there, rather than letting him go.

Interesting interview from Billy (was was co-commentating on the game last night): http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p034x3c5

I'm sure you'll see it referenced in the media, so it's worth a listen.

Mail and reliable in the same sentence!! Not heard that before!!

In terms of rugby rumours they are about as reliable as it gets.

Henry backing Lancaster. Because he's 'a good guy' and has instilled good values.

Great. Not winning values. Not sure how humility will win you games.

Also assuming Lancaster will learn productively from this is a fallacy. He consistently hasn't learned previous lessons and there is no evidence to suggest he will learn from this or has the ability to learn. Whereas if we got in a proven coach at least we would know they had already had that development and ability.

Henry, himself, admitted that he doesn't really know anything about English domestic rugby - he's not really in a position to evaluate whether or not Lancaster should stay because of this.
