Mallinder shouldn't tour IMO he is a liability in defence.

Would like to see
9) Robson, Spencer
10) Ford, Loz
11) May, Earle
12) Slade, James
13) T'eo, Thompkins
14) Roko, Yarde (for some reason)
15) Woodward, Haley

Thompkins as a 12 over James with Marchant in at 13 and that's my squad (would rather take a 3rd 9 rather than Yarde but if you're going for 2 in each position then yeah fair enough)

I think Mallinder has potential. I would like to see him involved with England, Thompkins is a quality kid though so wouldn't be opposed to seeing him there.
Having seen pretty much no prem rugby for the last 2 months how is Joe Simpson playing? I know he went behind Robson and that screwed him when he was nearly in the England squad.

So the big question is are the either of the Curry brothers ready to tour to Argentina? Our backrow definitely needs some young blood. Add underhill and Clifford and we still need some of those under 20s stars coming though.
I think they'd be best served going to the JWRC to be honest.
Think they can definitely mix it at senior level (as they've shown in he prem/europe) but I wouldn't rush the u20s through that quickly.

Think that's exactly right, Olyy.

Particularly given there are other who we can bring in ahead (Kvesic, Fearns, Underhill, Clifford...)

+1. Same goes for Mercer too IMO.

Underhill is a slightly different case and as he's not going to be with the U20s, I think it will be well worth seeing whether he can live up to the hype for England.

I can't see any way Kvesic will go to Argentina based upon this season but I'm hoping he can play his way in to the squad for the AIs.

Fearns is a definite wildcard. Eddie loves a big, aggressive back rower and he certainly fits the bill in that respect.

Hope we don't pick him
Considering we're one of the sides backing an increase in residency we should say "thanks, but get back to us in 2 years"

100% this.

I also don't think we need him. Watson and Nowell have a decent chance of touring with the Lions but it's equally possible that one or both are left behind. Even if they do tour, we still have May, Roko and Yarde amongst others. I'd rather Wade than Solomona.

We know he can finish, but how's the rest of his game looking?

I have little doubt that if Eddie thinks he's the best option he won't hesitate to pick him.

I've only seen v brief glimpses of him. Does he offer something different to the others?

He's good enough elsewhere,
Can't remember seeing him under the high ball but defence is good enough (strong one on one tackler, but doesn't read the defence as well as someone like Nowell)
As well as his finishing his attacking in general is great, he's got a really dangerous short kicking game that is lethal in the 22 (think it was vs wasps that he did a chip off the side of his boot to get away from the touchline and then regathered and scored).

As I've pointed out elsewhere, he has to make that declaration in order for Sale to be able to claim EQP money for him. It's not really news in my mind.

Watch him defending during the build up to Kai Horstmanns try on saturday.
He was obviously going for another intercept ,but it led to the try being conceded.
I know its only one example but it was very poor.

I don't like the rules, but they're not his fault. If he's good enough, get him in the mix, it can only drive up the standards of others.

Our back 3's becoming interesting. Brown can't go on much longer, Watson's not hit the heights following injury and Daly isn't a wing (do you believe in specialists or getting your "best" players on the pitch?). Nowell's great but not quite quick enough, the polar opposite of May.

Watson to 15 for me and May to one wing. Feels like all that gas might need balancing on the other wing by someone much more physical (our back line's short of muscle, which I generally approve of, but you do need a back or two who can run through a brick wall as well as around it. Feels like all 3 shirts will be up for grabs.

Lions tour is doing some good for our backs.
Faz - looked very good
T'eo - is growing more and more into a union player
Watson - Looked very promising at 15.

I'm hoping we see a change to our 1st choice backline once our Lions return.
ATM I'd go for:
9. Youngs
10. Farrell
11. Whoever impresses on the Argentina tour, hopefully Earle
12. Te'o
13. Joseph
14. Nowell
15. Watson

21. Care
22. Ford
23. Daly

Watson shouldn't be surprising - he's consistently looked much better at FB than on the wing, IMO.
