England EPS 2016/17 season.

Kvesic will be the only player left. Heard it hear first

Almost feels like that's what he needs to be selected ...

I'm slightly concerned that Eddie name-dropped Tom Wood last week (or maybe the week before) as being unlucky to lose out.

Itoje for England 7!!

Maybe Eddie will look back to our 1993 15 - 9 hammering of the ABs for inspiration. For Rodber, Clarke and Richards read Itoje, Morgan and Billy!

That one was such a stroll in the park we even played de Glanville and Callard! And we won't mention what that nice Mr Joseph did to Bracken.

With Hill, I'm never quite certain what's going to stand out about him at international level. I'm sure he could do a job there, but thrive there? I think he'd need to be ConradSmith/JdV levels of smart for that. Which could maybe develop? I dunno. I could be being unfair here.

On a more serious note... should Eddie be demanding a meeting with the clubs to question the intensity of their training?

Why they are signed to the clubs not country.

Re Hill Peat I kind of agree I don't really see what he brings that makes me think he could thrive at the next level.

I think someone needs to have a word with Tigers about their injury rate, they're crazy.

Average for Tigers though or average in general?

I have no stats to back this up but it does feel like Leicester always run one of the most absurd injury records in the country. That could be an emotional reaction to Croft and Tuilagi basically being professional physio table users though.

I think people are forgetting what our current 12 stock is.

Sam Hill might not be standout in any specific facet but he's physical, he's got a good passing game and is actually a 12. Although I agree he's not a standout we really don't have anyone else who plays 12.

Slade is a 10
Farrell is a 12
Devoto is jack of all trades
Teo is an option in theory

I'm not suggesting he is an option right now but when you look across the premiership we really don't have many 12s to choose between and worse than that three of those players all play at the same club!!! Madness

Average in general.

We went through a period in 2013/14 season of a major injury crisis like proper big, and the 2012/13 season wasn't great but before then it was fairly standard..

ATM we have Out (In been out for a number of weeks) that i know of.
Slater
Croft
Williams
Burns
JPP
Manu

Which in a squad of 38.

Last season was similar roughly we never really struggled in squad positions. (Other than 12 because of JDV and Manu being crocked Although both have big injury records and are failing to plan for that).

Although we do seem to have the two most injury prone players in Europe in Croft and Manu.

It's true that if you remove the Croft and Manu outliers it's 4/36 which is about average I'd guess.

Fair point about Hill although IMO Slade is a 12.

Shame the likes of Clark and Sloan are not starters (Or near starters esp Sloan) just so we could get more of an idea about them.

Tigers could do with another 12/13 saying that guess depends on how Thacker gets on in the A league,

I'd rather take an international standard player who's not a 12 than a 12 who's not an international standard player, but its a fair point that the barrel remains empty.

Also will say Cockers was one of the DOR to not rip into Eddie Jones about training:

Richard Cockerill, Leicester's director of rugby, was more phlegmatic however, pointing to the compensation the Premiership clubs receive in the new £200m EPS deal which gives England greater access to players. "If you're Eddie you've got to get ready for the Springboks. The agendas are different. There's no point moaning about it. Players come back injured and we look after them."

I agree on Hill and I suspect Sloan will end-up being in similar category - i.e. a good solid AP player, but probably not good enough to really cut it at test level.

I'm surprised Clark hasn't had more of an opportunity given Bath's limited resources, but it bothers me that he's actually Welsh.

I think our options at 12 could be improved quite quickly though TBH. Mallinder and Williams could be genuine options before too long and, if the shirt is looking like it's up for grabs, Piers Francis could also decide he wants to have a crack in the AP.

I wasn't having a go at Leicester - the comment was aimed at the individuals and clubs (who are all too predictable in having a pop) who did have a go over player being injured in training.
