I completely agree but it’s not like we don’t have any indicators as to what Americans think.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that has meaningless (in the grand scheme of things) anecdotal evidence as well.
I was watching a film with my American brother in law over Xmas and a confederate flag was on and he said he’d be happy for the South to secede the Union. This is a right of center trader whose parents are first generation Greek immigrants who probably vote Republican. People are funny.
I think the view of Americans from Europe is largely driven by tourist interactions while in europe...
Noone comes across Cletus, Shaniqua, or Buck in Europe, its always rich entitled white college kids, or big city rich families being loud obnoxious, and entitled. Most Americans are certainly not that, Texans are super down to earth, as are the fly over states. The Chinese are having the same problem, i think their tourists have recently overtaken US in obnoxiousness in europe.
The other view is living amongst them, you only get an inside view of the state your in, and thwn adopt the bias from them about other states lol.
The 3rd view is quite a new phenomanon, the global social media look at their worst. Influencers, live streamers, etc, they represent US in the worst light possible.
I loved living in the US, ive loved travelling it, there are a few more places i need to visit (PCT, and Hawaiia are next on my list), and its no great shock that Americans dont travel internationally as much as us, well because they have far more atbhand than we do. The last decade will go down as a contentious one, but i think history will be far kinder and more rational to this era than people are being right now, when you put all of Trumps actions (not stupid words, or negotiations as he would say) into context, its about in line with American supremecy we have seen since WW2.
That said, i am fully on board with
@Which Tyler boycott, action is aleays a good thing, and ive railed against the US influence in the UK for decades, i just think a blanket attempt would be too difficult, and a more focused attempt on 1 company at a time might work better
