England 2024/25

I feel sorry for Underhill. He's so good every time he plays and then injuries inevitably knock him back down into the chasing pack.

If Ben Curry's not a Lion I'd genuinely consider him as skipper so taking Underhill for the bench feels like a waste. Harsh on Sam, but I think there's more to be gained form taking Kenningham, Pepper and Pollock instead.
For me Underhill is similar to Tuilagi at this stage. We know what he can do. Unless we actively need him, how about give him a rest and let him just get some minutes and consistency under his belt?

I like Barbeary's style a lot, but I've never thought that he's really suited to the international game in the back row. Maybe he was just over hyped as a kid and there's nothing wrong in being a good club player. But can't help wondering if he's ever thought about changing position. 😀
"So you've played hoooker in the past, how do you fancy sticking a 1 in front of that?"

I think Kenningham is just one of those players who would thrive if given the chance. He's an excellent all rounder. To be fair, I feel the same about Pepper.
Well im biased about Pepper as ive seen so much of him as he came through the academy and 1st team with us. Hes just an outstanding talent with huge potential. But Kenningham for me starts in the summer tours.

6 Kenningham
7 Ben Curry
8 Tom Willis

has a lot to like about it, with CCS or such off the bench

Given the French rumours I'd be more inclined to show him some love, take him and give him a leadership role. He's still either an automatic starter or the next cab off the rank. Plus he's had a fair bit of rest recently.

I know there have been injuries, but given ages, it's probably a fair assumption that 2 or 3 of Twindaloo, Earl and Underhill will still be around and playing well for 3 or 4 years yet, so 7 succession planning isn't a huge priority - unlike some other positions. Apart from those, our main target should be winning these games to keep up the momentum and confidence.

That's the thing though. In some positions - well on the flanks at any rate - there's so much depth that some players won't get the international career they would have done in other eras or even get to wear the shirt at all.

Luck of the draw. No-one said it was meant to be easy.

My hope is Pollock and Kepu stay with the U20's this season, I feel they would be their chance of winning it and it's a good things to have that winning mentality early I feel.

My Summer squad would be
1. Baxter, Obano
2. LCD, Langdon, Oghre (Will be Dan though)
3. Heyes, AOF, Fasogabon
4. Coles, Clark
5. Martin, Hill
6. CCS, Kenningham
7. Curry, Pepper
8. Willis, Barbeary
9. JVP, Randall
10. Ford, Atkinson,
11. OHC, Radwan
12. Dingwall, Woodward
13. Beard, Ojomoh, Daly,
14. Roebuck,
15. Furbank, Carpenter
