England 2021/22

Wouldn't mind a look at 6. Barbeary, 7. Curry, 8. Dombrandt at some point

As much as I'm a huge fan of Underhill I think he'll be the first in line for the chop when someone new comes into the squad - I think Curry is next in line for the England captaincy tbh, even though Lawes did captain before

As exciting as AB is, though, he's as frail as Manu - whilst I do expect to see him in the Six Nations EPS, i have concerns about how his body will handle A) the EPS training camp, and B) international rugby
Im still gutted about Jack Willis getting that(horrific) injury, on pre injury form of both id have Willis. For this 6N i wouldnt be apposed to him being there just worry too that he is very one dimensional.

This would allow Dombrandt to run smarter lines given he wouldnt have to do the full brunt of the tight carrying. So Barb curry Dombrant does sound decent.

So by the next WC, if we assume no more experimenting, how many new players have been brought in by Jones and how many underperformers have been challenged / removed? Excluding injury enforced changes what development has he actually done for the side in this cycle so far?
Eddie brought Willie Heinz into the squad during the world cup warm up matches in 2019.

Barbeary seems to pretty good in the breakdown area.

If he can progress his game to be a wrecking ball carrier....AND breakdown boss...just an alround physical prospect...then i can see him a good option at 6.

But ill watch his progress with interest. As mentioned above though...his progression seems to be hindered by his constant ****ly injuries.

I cant see him troubling the selectors at the moment though...

Seeing in the news that Newcastle Falcons are withholding their England players' match fees, but any further detail is behind a pay wall. Anyone any clue what's going on there?

I used to subscribe to the digital edition of TRP but then I sacked it off after I came to the conclusion that it was a) a poor publication and b) I didn't like the thought of subsidising a bloke like Fissler.

I agree with your point re: Fissler. As editor, I would worry about the damage that using him is doing to my circulation, but I have no idea how easy it would be to replace him with something more universally acceptable.

That said, I think that what TRP offers for a low price is a bargain. In a minority sport like rugby, I think it's reasonable for a low ticket publication like this to basically collate information and pad it out with a bit of editorial content from wherever they can cheaply source it. If you want deep dive, long form articles, The Rugby Journal is the only publication that I'm aware of, but comes with a £10 per issue price that reflects the cost of producing this kind of journalism and its limited interest.

TRP doesn't interest me much as I will have sought out all the factual information that's of interest to me and the editorial content that isn't available for free elsewhere isn't sufficient to warrant a trip to the newsagent. IRL, I know lots of rugby supporters who either don't spend much time online or don't use that time to look at rugby news, to whom TRP would be of great value for the information that it aggregates alone, even if the editorial content is of little interest.

Awful. However, let's wait for the full facts before condemning anyone.

Based on the Daily Mail's phrasing though it definitely seems to be an active player. Whether they are currently being picked or have been picked in the past is less clear.
