EA Rugby 2008 Discussion Thread

Nice post AK. about Vista very intresting!!

:( My problem with playing online is that I live in Australia and we have one of the slowest internet speeds in the modern World, So when I play anyone outside of my region there's just to much lagging, so is it just me, Australia Internet or is the EA servers, I don’t know?
This problem tends to deflate my interest in online play & then there's the cheats who just disconnect.

I can't afford this supposedly super speed broad band at the moment.

I don't think they realize how much potential a great rugby game can have on the expansion of our great game. I mean outside of US before Madden came out no one really gave a toss about American Football, but now I think NFL owes a lot of it's international fan base to the Madden series. So if they could make a game that is somewhere near the stature of Madden we could finally break into the U.S. market and make this the biggest and best Sports video game in the world.

I'm in total agreement with you on this one mate! I think it would benefit with our small scene Rugby fans here in the states. If this game is online I am going to love playing the lot of you.

It would be fun to link up with you slap heads on the other side of the pond.

No doubt mate, I will need to kill ya tossers! :p

I highly doubt your internet broadband is slower than our NZ one mate :p

Although, we comfortably play Gears Of War online without too much lag...

Then maybe it's just FIFA, I play on Xbox, 360 & P.C. and it lags on both when I play anyone outside of Australasia or maybe it's there connection? because my connection rating is at highest point. If my problem could be solved then im all for a TRF League online for Rugby if it happens!!

We're almost always playing Yanks without major problems connection wise.

And you need not worry bout a TRF online league, imagine there will be one up before you know it (upon release of course) :D

some games are rpone to lag more than others

GOW is praised
PES is heckled
Table Tennis praised - even play on dial up nearly

just some games have good online - some dont - hasnt got much to do with ur connection, but u are proned to lag moreso when linked to overseas match i guess

lmao arent u's all just shouting out them suggestions since it was 'confirmed' lol
[/b]
Nah ppl were making suggestions before that. But yeah shane williams should get a 100 overall rating because hes GOD.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH ^^^^ lovin ya sig dmx!!!

you need to add that shane'o is half welsh dragon and half british lion and full of ass whoopings from the allblacks

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL RUGBY 08!!!!!!!!!!!

YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!...

im hoping that the step up is considerable enough, you just have to look at the history of the ea series...they only closed those gaps of improvement on the past 2....rugby 2***(the forbidden one) was the poorest game in the universal next to nrl2..yet they used the same kinda of engine that our 06 one...made a full advance on that

so im hoping they either stick to this formula they had with the past 2 games..im afraid if they change the engine of the game it may come out as the new "rugby 2***" and yall dont want that do ya now!!!?!!!

if anything the naturally goodthings to come should be its graphics and the sound..but gameplay is different and i hope they make it smoother then rugby06!!!!!......what an awesome year it will be 4 rugby fans...the worldcup and a new game to celebrate the aftermath of on a next gen console!!!

Should be, the last one was. No doubt it'll have an Irish cover on it in the US to keep the plastic paddys happy.

They need to put in a custom tournament like FIFA, this is a big must for me this year, because I always have my football blokes over for tournaments (Boos, Junk & no nagging women inc. my wife) on FIFA because it has a custom knock out tournament. My mates have all mentioned that Rugby should have that.

Eff Off mate! Quit yer' load a shite in yer' mind, not aloud!

for a bit of fun i added Rugby 2008 to the rugby bookie.

will it be out before 1st November

or will it be on or after 1st November.

Have a bet, the smart money is for after 1st november :)

its a win/win situation if we bet after, if it shows up after we win at the bookie, if it comes out before we get the game. simple as

True, BUT if we get a confirmed date before then i can then close off the betting.

Confirmed is when we hear "official" word from EA.

I just thought we needed more things in the bookie :)

yeah the vista/360 online thing is called something like games everywhere or something. one of the first games to have this in I think will be shadowrun.

Something just occurred to me. Gay-Guy who is off destroying his TRF nickname with his woman, is going to come back online to one heck of a shock.

Last time he was on he wasn't thinking of a rugby game coming out this year or for next gen. He was thinking (much like some of the rest of us) that maybe EA had dropped Rugby from it's range!

He'll be an even happier not-so-gay man!!!

MATE I AM STUNNED!

......lol...we haven't even sussed out fully Rugby2006 yet.....imagine the secrets that this new game will be offereing for us to discover

Trying not to wet myself lol!

On another note, we still dont have anywhere near the freedom of movement as in JLR. That would be awesome. I always think with the right control method you should be able to beat players with just movement and pace.

With a fast back and a light push of the analog to create a jogging movement, a sudden turn of pace and direction change should see you be able to skirt around some of the bigger slower forwards.
[/b]
This can be achieved....on Rugby2006 there is a way to suddenly accelerate and even change direction quickly like a sidestep/jink......I am not talking about the normal swerving either. I think some people out there are cottoning onto this technique too. You can get sharper angles than a swerve would give you without stopping and turning around.

To be fair I did not invent this method....it was the "trainer"!!!!

Wonderful stuff GG. It'd been too long since I'd heard about "the Trainer", lol!
