EA Rugby 2008 Discussion Thread

Do EA deliberately keep secret upcoming ***les ? I thought they were pretty open about what they were developing ? I certainly cant see what they have to gain about keeping a niche ***le under wraps. The more discussion and speculation about a rugby ***le the better as I doubt they will be throwing a huge marketing budget at it. I would have thought forums like this would be a large part of getting info about an upcoming rugby ***le out and about ?

I actually think its strange it was on the HB site and then removed. Has it been pulled ? If EA need HB to work on a more important ***le, they wouldnt think twice about pulling a rugby game.

It's entirely possible, but all things considered it wouldn't be hard for someone to start thinking you'd like the ***le to not exist.

I'm all for using common sense and waiting for confirmation, but you jump at any chance to suggest that it might not be coming out, coincidentally that'd prove you right about your inital statements about a new Rugby game :)

Perhaps this is part of EA's master plan. EA may of told HB Studios to announce an indication of Rugby 08 for a few days then remove it. By doing this, it has created a mass speculation about the game. We have currently got 342 replies to this thread (18 pages) with an astonishing 8,224 members that have viewed this thread. Just think of how many other forums have got a similar threads about Rugby 08 that members reply/view. For all we know EA may keep things under wraps, then come World Cup time, advertise the game in some way.

If you think for one minute that I would like this ***le to dissapear up its own arse then you must be plain and simple mad. I have been on rugby game forums for more years than I care to mention, well before SIDHE came on the scene. It is one of my passions in life and I play them on a daily basis.

I do however still have serious doubts about a ***le that has yet to be well and truely announced yet, especially considering what I had heard previous to the snippet on the HB website.

By doing what you suggest, it wont create any more buzz. With regards to rugby games, I really think you either want to play them or you dont. Im not sure there is that big of a " passing interest " type fan for this kind of game.

There would be far more discussion on forums if EA announced the game. If it was announced tomorow am what the game contained and when it was to be released, then traffic on this forum would probably double.

Yeah I agree what you say. I, like yourself are being optimistic. Currently I am running out of excuses for EA not announcing the game yet officially.

As there is no concrete proof of the game yet, there is a possibility that Rugby 08 will be cancelled. I remember a game for the xbox that looked quite promising called 'BC' & Lionhead Studios cancelled the game. I hope this isn't the case with Rugby 08.

Look at Rugby Challenge, that only got released by the skin of its teeth thanks to the hardwork of Swordfish. Its quite surprising the quality of game that nearly doesnt hit the shelves for one reason or another. A HP Lovecraft inspired game call " Dark Corners of the Earth " only made it to shelves by a bugs dick and its a fantastic game.

In fact a sequel with much work done will never see the light of day which is a real shame.

All we can do is cross our fingers and wait for an announcement although hopefully we could find out unoficially before anything official is released.

There is nothing unoficial as of yet though.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, I got that game, really enjoying it. Pity my pc fecked up & had to reinstall windows & couldn't get at the saved games. I was around half way through the game too. Now I'll have to go back through the game again.

Good work, but bloody hell, you've just written a whole paragraph of text, and there's only one full stop in there! And it was right at the end! I guess it's pretty obvious you're new to writing, not just in forums :D

You're only 14...finish yr 10 and then you will be able to understand english properly :p
