France captain Thierry Dusautoir, a tireless flanker known for his fiery tackling and deft ball-handling skills, has retired from international rugby, French media have reported.Dusautoir, who made his test debut in 2006 and played 80 internationals before making his last appearance against old rivals New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup quarterfinals, made his decision after discussions with new France coach Guy Noves.
"I saw him this morning," Dusautoir told French newspaper L'Equipe about Noves, who was also the flanker's club coach at Toulouse. "We arrived at the same conclusions. That is why I am convinced that my choice is dictated by reason.

Great player.

Absolute huge work rate. Certainly a lot of respect for the guy here in New Zealand.

I guess it is a tad unfortunate for the guy that his career largely coincided with an unstable French setup.

With that said - after two player mutinies over the last two coaches - I'm not surprised Noves would like to immediately build towards the future.

Top, top player but I also got the sense that he was underrated. A conversation of great flankers always brought up McCaw, Pocock, Hooper, Burger, Warburton but Dusatoir wasn't always mentioned.

Yeah brilliant player

Great French player and apparently a lovely man!

Shame Blanco would not let him come back to Biarritz when, some years ago, Thierry wanted to.......Blanco took umbrage that he left BO for the money/status....a principle, amongst many, that cost the club dearly!

Amazed he only has 80 caps?

Fantastic servant to his country.
Unremitting in defence, a work rate like no other in the northern hemisphere since Richard Hill.
