Digby Ioane may miss rest of rwc

If he is out he will be a huge loss for Australia. It is not only his obvious attacking skills that would be missed, but the solid defence he provides covering the 10 channel from set pieces. If he is gone they will either have to put Cooper back to defend at 10 (probably not a good idea!), or perhaps get some like O'Connor to defend at 10 (who is a good defender, but lacks the physicality that Ioane provided).

That would be massive loss, he's probably one of the most dangerous backs in the RWC.

faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Drew Mitchell. Remember him? Back fit and ready to reclaim his gold jersey.

Drew Mitchell time to suit up.

Before he goes - can he hand back his NZ passport.

Haha sad guy.

As much as I love any disadvantage Australia receives, this type of loss takes away from the spectacle. He is definitely a key player and you want to see the best playing the best so I hope he recovers in time to play the All Blacks in the final! Ha.

Pretty happy reading this actually, as a NZ supporter. The guys a massive talent and probably one of the most dangerous outside backs going around. All we need is for Genia to pull up lame and Aussies world cup dreams are OVER. Not that anyone in Aussie really gives a sh*t about rugby.

you would no this how?

diggers will pull through

If only we had some world class player to come and fill his spot.. .Oh wait we do? Stew or Drew mitchell or something?

Mitchell is a very adequate replacement, good player. He's done well to recover from that shocker injury. Shame for Ioane, he has been in good form. Never know it might not be tournament ending.

After much thought - I agree. He is a spectacle and doesn't appear to be too much of a dick. (can I say that on these boards? - if not sorry) and his growth as a player has been an impressive thing over the last few years.

I hope he pulls through.

Also - seriously - give back your NZ passport.

Oconer just comes off the bench for his spot and Anthony Stays at outside centre is another option

Really a shame for Ioane. Brilliant attacker and certainly makes the RWC more exciting. Drew-Mitchell is a very good backup though, so it's not the end of the world. The bright side for me in this is, if wingers are going to get injured, Zac Guildford should start next match.

It's a broken thumb apparently. Not sure what they will do at this stage, i'm sure we will find out tomorrow if he will be able to recover in 3 weeks.
