DHL Stormers vs British & Irish Lions

What's that got to do with a MOTM award? Are you saying fans should boycott voting for him because he was born in SA even if he's the best player on the pitch?
It was a joke. Think you missed that.

But either way he was never the best player on the pitch.

Last chance to stake a claim for a test spot. I never thought we'd be in the situation where Price has a genuine chance of starting next week but if he has a great game I reckon he might (he'll have to have a worldly to stand a chance though)

The backs almost look set to go for next week but could be a lot of changes in the pack. I'm not so sure AWJ is a certain to go straight in the test side as people seem to think he is but I obviously won't be surprised if he gets the nod next week (assuming he comes through tomorrow ok)

I expect Conan to be replaced with Faletau but Conan is playing well and I would put him in the same box as Price in that he has a genuine shot at starting.

Keep forgetting about Lawes but hoping Beirne is locked in for 6 even though I'd rather see him in the row.

I always find it hard to take Fan choices motm seriously.

I can't take anything to do with Eng RWC 15 seriously. And Launch's shoulders can't be comfortable for the front rowers.

I hope Smith has a blinder. It'll be great to watch, give Gatland a headache and send this place into meltdown.

I'm even starting to believe the Lancaster is too soft narrative. I rate him very highly as a coach but one HEC Final where we threw away what should have been an insurmountable lead in three years isn't good enough. Cullen not blameless at all either.

Starting to think Isa provided the hard edge required more than the coaching team in 2018. Big tangent but I need to get it off my chest.

I think anyone will have a great game against us this weekend, we normally play a forward dominated gameplan, if that fails we lose 100%,even to a much weaker side

The decisions re. 8 and 9 is where Gatland has to earn his corn. Does he go for form players like Price & Conan or does he go with guys who have delivered in a Lions test in the past like Murray & Faletau. These are the big decisions he as HC has to get right.

True. But I wouldn't see starting Faletau instead of Conan as some kind of terrible rugby decision or nothing. Sure, the past he has with Faletau will undoubtedly factor in his decision but it's not like Faletau is in terrible form he's just not at his best yet. It's not like Farrell who he clearly rates and has history with but is in bad form.

I think he'll still go Murray even though he's not been particularly great. He's always liked him and I think he'll back him to sort it out come the first test. I think he likes what he brings from a kicking perspective bit I think Price has box kicked well this tour and we know Price has got a nice little array of attacking kicks too. I've never been a massive fan of Gareth Davies but he's even surprised me how lacklustre he's been.

To be
So you finally admit it

You just dislike him because he's South African
I do think it really devalues the lions tour/concept if you were to beat the South Africans with a few South African's yourself. Luckily I think it is just VDM this time around.

Im loving the 10-12-13 axis for the lions. I know hes not always a favourite on this board and i don't see as much of him as you guys but daly always looks like a smart and creative player to me, but especially suits the 13 role.

also, Anywhere you can bet on player of the series? I want to bet on marcus smith; i dont think it will happen but i think its probably more likely than the odds would suggest

edit: am i allowed to ask that on here?

Daly has always been a smart, creative player. He's just never been played in his best position by Jones. This is for a variety of reasons I think. One, Jones wanted a play maker at 15 similar to Barrett. Two, playing Daly at centre would have made it harder to stick Farrell there, so he left it open. Three, Jones has this ridiculous idea of playing players out of position as a whole.

Honestly he would be a great centre for England, but he's a poor fullback because he's not secure under the high ball.

When Daly has been played at 13, he's always performed well for England. He should have stayed as a wing or 13 but Jones makes mistakes (lots of them) and forcing Daly to 15 for a continued failure was one of them.

I wonder where he will play for sarries next season when all their back line is fit.
