[COVID-19] General Discussion

With all the **** that has happened in the last few months I just don't see the public doing another lockdown, people don't trust the system and will just do what they were going to do regardless.
Clubs close people will prob just do house parties etc.
For me it's gotten to a stage now that people need to be mindful of their own health. Omicron seems to be a lot easier to handle than Delta did despite original feelings.
At some point it's got to start being treated the same way we treat Flu now.

How many of the deaths will be from those who didn't get the booster and vaccine?
It's either 40% or 60% (I can't remember) currently in ICU but I can't really subscribe to the idiots deserve to die mantra. Also at minimum 40% of those people were getting them and were certainly callous to say they deserve to dit because others couldn't follow basic science.

There's also these knock on effects as well just taking COVID deaths as the number causes issue as well.

Look I hope you guys are right but this stinks of 2020 'take it on the chin' and I was quite vocally hopeful then but I'm not foolish enough to go for it again. Plus NHS staff are a lot more vocal about how ****** everything is than they were then.

My thought process was being how many antivaxxers etc would follow a lockdown rather than they deserve it.

Fair enough, I suppose another question is how many of these anti-vaxxers are hardcore and how many are just lazy fuckers looking for an excuse.

I'm unsure how a lockdown gets enforced right now as before without people seeing pictures of the NHS spiralling out of control. It just depresses me its going to take that to that point as because of that both the length and economic impact will be longer.

Wow this has blown up. Seems like the Australian government has found their own 'technicality'.

There were long long negotiations to make The Ashes happen (predominantly to do with English players families actually being allowed over there) for one guy to blast through all that because he's the world number 1 over a 2 week tennis tournament make sense it would blow up. Wife has Australian family I'd be interested to know what they think about all this. I do know they can't believe it whenever we talk about how lax our restrictions are.

BBC reporting Novak will deported from Australia tomorrow.
Good. No problem with taking special precautions to allow things like sports to go ahead but to turn a blind eye to flagrant disregard for them would just completely undermine the position of the government and the sport, especially he is almost certainly unvaccinated. I wonder what on earth his special medical exemption is? Have a very strong suspicion it's simply that he doesn't want to and has enough money and fame to find a doctor who will give him an exemption on that basis.
