i pick hugh bladen, purely because he was present at the first ever rugby match....whats up with all the Australian commentators saying " he says" the whole time every time a pass is made....eg. Steyn says give it to me, Olivier says give it to me then passes to Van den Heever who says I'll have a go....

Eddie Butler and Brain Moore is always good for a laugh.

I wouldn't mind seeing Miles Harrrison and Johnathan Davies, would be an interesting combo.

or how great would it be to use excerpts from matches that bill mclaren commentated? anyone who remembers the good old days what do you think?

Wouldn't imagine it'd be worth the money. He's my favourite rugby commentator but since this is Rugby 2012, it wouldn't make much sense considering he hasn't commentated in 10 years and recently died.

I'm a New Zealander and I love the Australian commentators. They crack me up. Throw in a lot of there jokes in there it'll be awesome. If there is a chance to have the choice of a northern hemishphere commentator and a southern hemisphere commentator would be a massive asset!!!!

Jokes in video game commentary are not really funny. After you've heard them once they're funny, 2-10 times they are okay, 10 to 20 times they start to wear thin. Over 50 times and you want to turn the commentary off for good.

Still sound like a great idea?

it definatley should be the australian commentators, they are by far the most enetertaining commentators, for overreacting at a break in the line by an aussie player in the super 14 or the witty one liners they make about players, just watch the super 14 and ull see how funny they are.

...They're not funny. They are lame. In a video game, if they were in there, I would turn commentary off.

They can be very funny and entertainers, but they are terrible commentators.

As Iverson pointed out, hearing the same jokes over and over again would be ******* infuriating after a couple of months. A guy like Nisbett just giving you the facts and stats and telling you whats happening on the field doesn't get old. Hearing the same banter would. quickly.

Anyone who has played the Smackdown vs Raw video games will agree that the same recycled jokes, over and over again, while insulting each other, gets so very old.

After playing Fifa 10 for the best part of a year i'm getting slightly bored of a vaguely homoerotic partnership of the commentators
"I've enjoyed these many years by your side" "As have I....it's been an honour"

I heard an Argentine commentate once, of course I didn't understand a word he was saying but the level of excitement he reached every time Argentina even came close to the try line was remarkable. It wont happen but I would like to see HB cater for the none english speaking rugby countries, almost all latin countries speak spanish(at least I think they do)

Does Brazil count as Latin?

You can't beat a bit of Ryle Nugent, he's like sprouts with the christmas dinner, horrible but it wouldn't be the same without them.
