Clermont v Munster

There could have been serious daylight between the teams had Mafi taken a better line.

Still though they'll take a 16-12 half time lead.

I'm sure they will. They could be a lot further in front though and if Clermont can find a few gaps in the second 40 then Munster may regret not making the most of their first half opportunities.

Penalty conceded by Munster immediately.
Their discipline is killing them, however Clermont are inept in attack whereas Munster are excelling in it.
They'll give away as many penalties as possible if that means they can kick into the Clermont 22, regain possession, and charge for the yellow line.
Great kick from James. 15 - 16.
Bite my tongue. Excellent driving work from the Auvergne forwards. Brock James fooling the defence to put Clermont in the lead.
Allez les jaunes! 22 - 16

James showing signs of why he was the best ten in Europe last season.
Turn over at the scrum! Clermont five metres out! Penalty Clermont anyway; there was an opportunity to the right but the ball passed into touch.
Easy kick for James if he wants it. Yep, he'll take the three. 25 - 16 now. Munster really need to respond immediately.
Clermont are hitting sublime form.

It's damage limitation time for Munster now, if they can get out of this with a bonus they'll be doing well.

They are still in this mate. Need to ride the storm.

Still, Clermont are on fire at the moment. Three points or a massive touch finder would be very useful for Munster right now. They're really under the cosh.

An hour are gone, a healthy lead lost and Munster on the back foot...

Is this the point when O'Chokas head explodes?

Give it ten minutes...
Oh ****, they've done a vLeicester@Thomond. ROG should have gone for the bp there, instead of ******* about with the touch finder. Conceding a penalty there is a massive blow for Munster... Unless they can withstand another relentless Clermont attack...

Sure something's happening under the rucks, seeing the numbers of balls changing of side for both teams !!!

Clermont have the territory after that ROG penalty. 25 - 19, but can James deny them the bonus point? C'mon Clermont!

Excellent victory for Clermont... How important does that bonus point look though? Clermont and Sale both need to scavenge points at Thomond Park to have a chance now. Great match.

Yeah - ROG really choked there, didn't he? :D

Munster should have had it sewn up by half time. Mignoni did great to intercept ROG's pass, and the Clermont scrum put on enough pressure to screw up that chance for Howlett.

Clermont power in the second half was amazing, but Munster are the better team.

1. Yep. His spectacular missed tackle on James lost the game for Munster in the end. ;)

2. The result says otherwise. ^__^

Let's wait and see what the result next week will be ;)

Clermont were excellent, as were Munster. Will be really disappointed if both teams don't make it out of the pool stages. On their day both are probably in the top 3 sides in Europe. I'm getting annoyed with people saying DOC and Ronan had anonymous second halves. Their work rate in the 3rd quarter kept us in the game, outstanding defence apart from the try.

ROG wasn't at his best, still a step up from his Irish form. Nice to see him actually run the ball as well! Made a nice break near half time, but for a combination of a poor pass, poor line by Mafi and excellent defence by Mignoni it would have been a try.

Hopefully Warwick will be fit enough to play a part next week! Would like to see Fogarty start, or even better Flannery if fit. Hopefully Ronan will keep his place as well. I can't think of another team in europe that Donnacha Ryan wouldn't start for. I'm afraid he will leave soon if he doesn't get a starting place

Brock James?

He couldn't make the starting XV for any of the Australian Super 14 teams...
