Champions League Thread Part 2

Solid win for Arsenal tonight, nice goal from Fabregas, placing well to the right of Bufon but more surprising was the tackle from Pires which set up the goal. Henry did well for his goal after Fabregas overhit the pass. Juve finished with 9 players but Arsenal seemed happy with a 2-0 victory. Should be enough but Nedved being back next week should pose some problems for Arsenal.

Haven't seen the highlights yet but was certainly surprised with Barca only getting a 0-0 draw in Lisbon, that's never a good result away from home in my opinion.

EDIT - Barca seem to be pretty dominant going by the first half highlights, could well have had at 3 goals at least with Deco missing an absolute sitter, Benfica doing alright though on the counter

I have to admit, it made me think of Arsenal from a few years ago; They made a big game like like a kick about in the park. If they loose in Turin I'll be supprised now.

That's a fantastic result for the Arsenal - they should be able to defend that in the second leg. Juve still have a chance but I don't think that Wenger will let this chance slip now.

If Arsenal do win and make it through to the next round who will they play?

Very well done Arsenal. Superb result, and after a nervy start, a superb display.

Well Lyon undeservedly lost to AC Milan last night, 3-1 on the night and on aggregate, and Villarreal beat Inter Milan 1-0 to progress to the semi final.

Barca are currently 1-0 up on Benfica, Juve 0-0 with Arsenal.

Can't see Milan going any further after that performance, even the performance over the 2 legs, Lyon were by far the better side but with their firepower Milan will always be a threat.

Definitely although with Barca not firing on all cylinders in front of goal then they could still find themselves in the final. Who'd have thought that at 9:25 yesterday evening?

its going to be villareal and barcelona, i dont think arsenal will be able to beat villareal the way their playing in europe at the moment. arsenal so far have faced very aging sides - where they can ship it wide and run them ragged, villareal are a different kettle of fish, they have pace in abundance, they have some quality players in arruraberaena, forlan and the mercurial juan roman riquelme - who im sorry to say on his day is the best cm in the world.

id like arsenal to win, but its going to be hard for them as villareal are playing extremely good in europe and look like they could claim another scalp via highbury.

What of the chances of Henry's possible last game for Arsenal, being against Barcelona which could be his new team next season....

May be worth a bet!!!!

If we play Brazil?

Dida.

next question.

ahh yes and youve got a reliable back four, the same back four that lost to n.ireland

the same back four that got smashed against denmark, yes they may have dida, but england wont even trouble him.

if david healy can torment the back four than ronaldinho will obliterate them

Ronaldinho was very average last night.

He produced a couple of moments of magic, such as the through-ball that led to the goal, but his pass completion ratio must have been shocking.

Even the best player in the world can't play without time and space on the ball, something which Nesta and Stam denied him.
