Celtic League Thread 05/06

The Ulster number 6 was a right dirty bugger though. Shitehouse didn't notice though, he seemed to be hell bent on having a scrap with Mutschin.

Glagow did us a HUGE favour today beating them in Ireland, so they loss to Ulster isn't as bad, and we're still in with a shout.

I'm annoyed at the SRU for not releasing key players in our squad. We needed Hogg and Taylor and Kellock badly in the scrum and we missed Paterson's running a bit (though Pyke played well) and his kicking (Hodge can still punt it for miles, but he's not as accurate). It was a really crucial game, and there's more chance of the Gunners winning the league than there is of Scotland winning the six nations. Though if Scotland beat England a week today I'll be singing a different tune probably.

Leinster, we really shouldn't be losing to the Dragons with the team we've put out tonight, I know we're missing some players but that team is still strong enough to get a win in Newport.

Just seen it's Leinster.

I hope they win, that way Edinburgh would be tied on points with Leinster with 14 games played each, only two behind Ulster and 5 behind Munster. I think that that isn't completley out of the question to catch up.

we've got a free weekend coming up however, poxy timing though as we'll need to find a friendly to get a game with the full team before the Toulouse quarter final.

Hugely frustrating result especially with the chance to go top as well and we don't even come away with a losing bonus point.

I have to say Leinster may have been **** but the ref was simply awful; the players spent most of the match ignoring him unless they were trying to influence him somehow.

Edinburgh have a free weekend so the pressure is on the Irish provinces to pick up a win this weekend, Leinster should win at home to Connacht while Munster will be heavily depleated for their trip to Ravenhill to take on Ulster. Elsewhere Glasgow take on Borders and the Blues host the Ospreys.

gavin henson will be looking to get some confidence back - he starts at 12, and shane williams also plays at 11.

terrible performance from the ospreys - with only shane williams ever looking dangerous

chris czejkai was immense and reminded me a little of joe rockoko today - he scored three tries and his finnishing was worthy of the rocket man.

Well Ulster are going top of the table tonight currently 22-3 up against Munster with about 10 minutes left.

Yeah they were anyway, they'd already gotten the bonus point and were only 3 behind Munster anyway.

Depending on Leinster's result, the ***le race is now open to the top 4 teams. It makes for an interesting 'business end' of the season. Hopefully we'll see plently of good games, and Edinburgh as champs!

Well I wasn't that worried that we were missing our internationals after we hammered the Borders but then we went and lost to the Dragons, so I don't know how we're going to do this weekend. We still have a strong enough team to beat anyone in the league so a home match with Connacht shouldn't pose too much problems.

Ulster have opened the league wide open tonight, not surprising really, Munster are really obliterated by the international weekends, 9 first team players missing from action tonight and their backup is far less experienced as well.

It's the same for Edinburgh.

I think that there should be no games during the 6 nations - teams can't field their best teams and makes the league seem a bit of a joke.

Well I think we've got the right compromise at the moment in that we've no games on 6N weekends, so it only ends up affecting 3 weekends, even during the Autumn internationals we had no matches, the Wales NZ match fell outside the international calendar.

Scrappy win for Leinster at Donnybrook in a poor enough game, 16-13, didn't look likely though in the first half with Connacht all over us and Leinster just not at the races. Got there though just about with Contepomi's try barely making the line, late scare with a Connacht try but we hung in there.
