Dan Carter is out of the Rugby World Cup.
A Nation gulps.Dan Carter is OUT of RWC 2011.
The official announcement that we all dreaded was confirmed at 10am NZ time this morning.
And along with the news, the entire Rugby community of New Zealand gulped and held its breath.
'The Shadow' included. My stomach is still churning.
Yet we must move on.The reality is plain and simple..
In Colin Slade,Piri Weepu and replacement Aaron Cruden,we must trust.
Sure, our prospects at this World Cup have dipped and the resulting plunges on the Springboks and the Wallabies at the NZ TAB in the last few hours has seen their prices to win the Cup come down, while New Zealands have lengthened.
Such is the impact Carter has on the All Blacks performance.
But one man does not make a team.Remember..
"A Champion team will always beat a team of Champions."
Our All Blacks must rally together and look ahead, focus on Canada today and in putting in a complete performance against them.Wallowing in our own self pity will do us no favours, and I'm sure the All Blacks are professional enough to be able to shrug this major set back off,and move on.
Time now for all our collective experience to pay dividends.Time for the big boys to step up.
"When the going gets tough, the tough get going…"
Whoever replaces 'Dan the Man' will get support around him in an environment that is not entirely unfamiliar .The patterns, systems and structures that have been implemented over the years by the Coaching panel will have put this team in good stead.
The ship is the same,it is just that there has been a slight change in who steers it.
Fear not New Zealand rugby fans,we can soldier on and win this Cup.Heads up,chin out,and move on.
