British & Irish Lions vs Emirates Lions

Wednesday game will be a back row and Navidi, Curry, Simmonds then?
That's pretty entertaining one to be fair.
Simmonds will be on his way back home by then,
He's going to get crushed like an accordion by the big SA forwards

Let's just hope he's not unleashed in the same way he was in the final.
Seeing as he was one of the only bright sparks for England in that final...
In fact he's outplayed his opposite number (usually Kolisi) everytime he's played the Boks

Just teasing. I'm a big fan of his as you know (as most people with eyes are)

Not sure about the balance of him and Navidi but with Simmonds at 8 as a unit it's not too bad. Would like to see Watson and Curry for the tests with Berine in the row but no way that is happening.

I know we usually lose a game or 2 against the club sides but I reckon we'll be unbeaten this tour. 15 point win in this one.

My issues stem from are these combinations are we really trying things that will be used in tests or finding out things we don't already know.

Can't belive were going for Price/Russel/Farrell as anything other a possible mid-week thing.
Itoje/Hill we know loads about.
Back 3 looks fine but I can't believe Watson doesn't get involved in tests.
Equally Farrell/Harris is unlike to happen.
Backrow as noted not Curry which is unlikely.

Frontrow looks like the only thing where we might learn something.

My prediction
B&I Lions to win by 40
Simmonds to get a double off the bench and the press till the lions first test will be pushing hard for Simmonds to start v SA even though it's against a team that would struggle to beat Worcester.

I know club sides often beat the B&I Lions but I can't see this SA Lions team beating the British and Irish Lions (I hate that i must specify) , maybe because of the First game or second game syndrome the African Lions might have a chance. But to put it bluntly this Lions team has very little chance of winning the Currie Cup. With that said, The other Lions will have a rude awakening on the Highveld. I went there last week again and as is common with Coastal citizens visiting Joburg, your nose starts to bleed, and you feel it on your skin this time of the year if you are not acclimatized. To be fair, My buddy from Pretoria thought we KZN people were overreacting. So in this regard it will be interesting to see how a composite team reacts to this in only their second game. I know the original idea by SARU was to keep the British and Irish Lions away from Ellis Park until the tests, but it is what it is now.
Well, given the 50, i repeat 50, best players in the country wont be available for any of these first three games (i presume as theyre all locked down due to players getting covid), i cant see the south African sides being too competitive.

I wish Curry or Beirne were at 6 and Henshaw at 12 but hey hoh. Hogg must be relieved Murray (and his elbow) isn't playing.

It's almost like a Townsend backline fused together with a Jones/Gatland lovechild pack.

Nah Sharks will klap the lions. Even without our 11 Springboks.

Obviously not easy to foresee the covid sitch in SA (not impossible either now) but they should have played the US in London/Cardiff instead of this. Going to be a joke up until the tests at least.
Are the SA sides possible low level of competition worrying you? Or rather do you feel they might not provide the Lions with a challenge ?

I'm not supporting either team so not worried at all! Just entertainment value, if the tourists are hammering all the clubs or playing **** and still winning I'll soon lose interest in the warmups completely.

Should be an exciting game. Hogg loves a chip and chase and he's got LRZ with a great set of wheels on him

Nice wee appetiser before the England v Ukraine game. Hopefully we'll see Finn replicate the best pass in the history of the game but to LRZ this time instead of Huw Jones. Gatland will be having kittens if he tries anything like that.
