Lions tour dates have been announced starts at Whangarei on 3rd June against a Provisional XV with games against all Super rugby franchises, the Maori All Blacks and 3 tests, 2 at Eden Park and 1 in Wellington. Would have thought there would be a test match on the South Island? Surprised there is no stop over in the US or the Pacific Islands unless an advance party will play in May.

Wish they would have played at least one of the Pacific Island teams. I dare say that it would be a much better warm up than the Provincial XV. Just hope the All Blacks release their internationals to play for their Super XV sides. Slightly worried they might be undercooked going into the tests.

Anyone got any thoughts on the Lions skipper for the 2017 tour? Early days yet I know but is there a stand out candidate at the moment.

I think who's coaching the tour will play a part. If it's Gatland, for example, it'll probably be Warburton again.

I'd probably go with Alun Wyn Jones, myself. Experienced, a real leader, and one of the best locks in rugby.
