[Bledisloe 3] Australia v New Zealand in Brisbane 18/10/14

Even when on the ropes we find a way to win ! Fitness came into it at the end . A lot to be learnt in this game. Break down and defensive woes urgently need to be addressed. Congrats to Mckenzie . You can hold your head high.

I must say though we are letting this young Aussie team pull the jumper over our heads a few times this year even if we did thrash them once. Better not make that a habbit as they might learn something.

After the final whistle sounded, i realized one thing again...

michael hooper is one handsome fela...

I dont blame the Aussie player for kicking that ball out. They were making little ground and were in danger of losing the ball in the 22. All he did was at least make it harder for the AB's by making them go from outside the 22

Despite the incredible defeat, this is positive for Australia. If they maintain this level, they can win their 5 games in Europe, even against England at Twickenham

Man, unbelievable finish, very frustrated that the channel went off about 3 minutes near the end of the game, so I did not see the final try and Slade's conversion. The Wallabies played very well and, although I am a die hard AB's fan, did deserve to win the game. ABs defence acted poorly throughout the game and it's certainly an issue that has to be quickly addressed before EOTY tour.

McKenzie's got to go. Terrible result. So disappointed. We really are the masters at finding new and inventive ways to lose. Funny thing was, I knew we were going to lose with 10 min to go as I've seen this play out so many times before.

What a dumb penalty decision. Joubert isn't giving McCaw any time to roll away.

Exactly, Joubert giving the AB's no time, McCaw penalized twice within 1 second of the tackle ,AB's win a line out and he calls play it with a second, yet he is giving Aus all the time in the world.

Really inconsistent.

Yet we still won, well done AB's not this time Aus.

Wholly crap I still don't know how we won that. We played so poorly for most of the game. So many bloody missed tackles and loose passes. Tbh to win after playing so poorly does deserve major kudos.

The Wallabies were great today just unlucky and panicked in the last few mins. A lot of passion and for most of the game looked like they wanted the win more than us. If they can sort out some of the off field stuff, they'll definitely be one of the favourites come WC time.

I never used to rate Kuridrani - I always felt he never made the most of his pace and power - but I thought he was quite simply outstanding this match (as he has been for the last 3-4 matches for the Wallabies). His defense was powerful, and he was a massive threat with ball in hand. I still think the Aussie wings are largely obsolete with him in the 13 jersey, but he certainly justifies his position when he performs like that with ball in hand!

There always is one Kiwi who wails about the ref!!!

Got the feeling the Wobblies were in shock that they were in front with time almost up and just didn't quite know what to do, and so instead of doing what they did the entire match and run it, they stupidly did hit-ups to try waste a whole three minutes... very very silly against the ABs.

Would have been a nice good news story, but then I don't really think anyone other than us diehards in Aus is watching the Wallabies anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter. They were short of selling this game out by a good 5-10k by the looks and I won't be shocked if it gets outrated by the A-League - which is a shame, because the team actually played pretty great footy for most of it.

Dunno how we won that. The lack of support at breakdowns was driving me up the wall.

The Wallabies maturity and intensity at the back-end of games is just awful... they don't have any confidence and lose their way big time. I can remember during the early 00s the Wallabies had this great stat of winning something like 52 of 53 tests where they were leading at half time - showed just how hard it was to run that team down during that generation of players. Sadly the side hasn't been like that for years and we virtually need to be 40 points ahead at half time for them to not start freaking out at the back end.

I wonder if it's to do with the Wallabies conditioning at all - I read Clyde Rathbone yesterday talking about how a lot of the brumbies players come back from the Wallabies relived to be back in Canberra because the facilities and program is superior! That's a poor sign for McKenzie and might explain why we suck so bad at closing out games - it's certainly a massive contrast to the Waratahs, who scored the bulk of their points in the first and last 20 mins.

Was it just me or did both sides, especially Wallabies it must be said, get away with not throwing the ball in straight during lineouts? The ref was right there and some of the throws were a good meter to one side. And a lot of forward passes missed as well, especially from the Wallabies.

Also, little rant;

Could the commentators please ,either feel free to contradict a referee call about a ball being thrown forward, or not say anything about the pass at all? I hate it when they simply act to reinforce a referees incorrect decision and refer a forward pass as "line ball". The ref got it wrong, but that's no big deal, what annoys me is pretending they got it right.

I felt the reffing of this game in general was incredibly loose.

White isn't an international level player. I've been saying this loooooong time ago
