Barbarian FC v British & Irish Lions

Meh, i think the baabaas broken field play is a bit overrated.
Hogg, Cuthbert and Maitland etc. would love the game to break up too.

I agree with you that back 3 is very good in open play but the point i'm making is more along the lines of teams that play the Ba Ba's are more organized allowing them to control the game. Now if the game breaks down and is unstructured the teams are on a more even level as the team, in this case the lions, don't have the ability to control the game and play to there game plan(s) much.

The team is much like what I expected was fairly predicable considering whos been in camp. Not a fan of 10-12-13 combo but maybe
Farrel will show some more passing and running with the Lions. We know what JD and Roberts are like together so I don't expect anything to be learnt.

If that makes any sense, which it won't.

I like Maitland. I think he is one of those players that will excel while with the Lions. I only wish we had a centre to give him the ball in space at pace. He is a better winger than Visser, who I just have never rated. Sure he runs in some nice tries, but modest defences have shown that he can be negated easily.

Looks like Tindall is a "doubt", after the lack-of-Varty backlash.

Nice to see Daly getting a look at 13, although I'm not entirely sure that his future lies there. As deft a player as he is, a 14stone 13 won't cut it. Far too vulnerable to injury.

Anyone think there may be more to Warburton's injury than him simply being rested? Aparrently it's knee ligaments and required an injection with an 8 day rest after.

I agree ligaments and injections sound like more then 8 days to me but i'm no expert and the guys they have on board are, but I can see why they'd want to hold out for as long as possible on announcing anything major. Again all speculation based on almost no knowledge of ligaments beyond what they are.

If Warburton and Jenkins aren't fit by Wednesday will they be sent home?
Gatland was pretty clear saying that players who weren't available for the first two games would be replaced.

Leading try scorer in the Pro12 for 4 consecutive years in a row despite playing in a relatively awful team and his tries against Racing-Métro being a large part of their Heineken Cup run last season. And 6 in 10 caps for Scotland who as you state in your post, hardly have a creative midfield. Give credit where due, he wouldn't be leading try scorer in the league 4 years running if modest defences were negating him easily, he is a great finisher, I think you are getting confused with his brother. If you swapped Visser and Cuthbert's countries they play for I reckon it would be the other going on the Lions tour, Visser could at least match what Cuthbert does for Wales.

Unlikely as they are Welsh and Robshaw would be the obvious replacement for Warbs!!!

At least BOD got on to the pitch as captain before he was replaced after that "accidental" injury.....in the event that he was actually to be replaced, would this make Warbs the first appointed captain never to have played for the Lions?

The perfect replacement for Gethin is already in Hong Kong, so it wouldn't be too difficult.

Pretty tricky position for Gatland if he were to get in that position. Replace his captain, or u-turn on his earlier words.

I'm presuming there was a little "*" in his comment, and then after all the press left he said "* unless they're Welsh" :p

Just because Jack McGrath has squinty eyes does't mean he's in Hong Kong.

He destroyed Adam Jones btw...

I give you two points for the attempt, but none for execution.
I appreciate the effort though. Prepare your jimmies for GIFs.

I don't really watch Gaelic Football (I assume that's what is it? Can't see much). Hasn't digital recording made it to Dublin yet? I know it isn't available in Cork yet, they still have all those new reels of film to go through.

Also, sorry, there is no pretentious sig award. I would roll out Tennyson otherwise.

Not going for an award that's how pretentious I am, I'm also so prentious I didn't go for the most pretentious quote possible.

Best recording I could find given the Ospreys destroyed all others out of embarrassment. :p

But by calling it pretentious you reduce the pretentiousness. If you acted as if you just happen to quote Yeats as you go, that would be far more pretentious.
