Glaws need to get back to the training paddock - three mauled tries from line outs?

I hate mauled trys from line outs but well done Tigers!

Missed penalty at the death that would have won it :(
We didn't deserve to win, to be fair - congrats to Newcy.

Also Genge is IMO going to be ahead of Mullan next season, his scrum work is improving a hell of a lot and he brings so much to the park.

Hell i can see him ahead of Marcos soon.

Well same old Gloucester. Looks like a another long frustrating season ahead for the supporters. One step forward followed by several back.

Yeh he was immense today ! I'd start him next week !

The Glos performance today was like sprinting up a hill only to trip at the top and tumbling all the way down again, landing in a stinging nettle patch and then being hit by a piece of cheese (because they are funny like that).

I'm a very big fan of Genge. It seems that all props in England are either good in the loose or good in the scrum. Genge's both. Has a huge future. I can see him starting for England for 2019.

I'm looking forward to seeing the highlights of last night's games. Neither result is exactly what I expected ...

I did expect Newcastle to be more competitive this season, but I would have backed Sale to pick up the win.

I expected Tigers to win, but given Gloucester's attack was so poor last season, I hadn't expected them to run in 4 tries and I hadn't anticipated the game being that close.

IMO, the more competitive the league is, the better, so I'm all for Newcastle and Gloucester improving on last season.

For those that did see the games, who stood out?

I was due to play today but the game's been cancelled so I picked up last minute tickets for the Double Header today. Seats aren't great, but I'll definitely report back on the four teams I see with my own eyes.

From a Leicester point of view I thought the whole replacement front row were superb (Genge, Cole and McGuigan) really changed the tide when they came on . Mat Tait had a horrible game and Tuilagi was terrible in defence .

Great to hear the EQP have started well. Obviously not Tait, but he's not on the radar from an England point of view anyway.

I'd heard Witty was tearing it up in pre-season. From an England POV, his only disadvantage will be playing in a position a position where we have ridiculous depth and talent.

****ing hilarious!
Seriously the Gloucester captain needs a slap.
Maybe a series of them like in Airplane, get all the shed to have a go.

Absolutely gutted.

All we could hear round us was "take the three points" - Madness!

Fair play to Leicester, they muscled us out of the game but why we kept trying to play rugby in our own half instead of playing for territory, I'll never know.

The bench didn't help either, replacement f/row made to look very second string by Leicester bench and the 6-2 split meant 3 positional changes to replace a winger.

On the bright side, some great attaching play and Matt Scott looks like an absolutely blinding signing.

Good summary i reckon.

For Gloucester (IMHO) - Kvesic had a decent game (nearly always does), Sharples did well until going off, Morgan was quiet, 36 was his usual self (1 part genius, 3 parts idiot).

Early contender for "commentator's curse of the season" goes to Ben Kay (?) saying that Humphries must be thanking god that he's got the cool, calm, experienced heads of Laidlaw and Hook on the pitch; just as they chose to go for the corner rather than the sticks.
