Australia v Ireland

D'you know waht?

I fancy Ireland to win this one. Not by a lot, 8 points but Ireland to win.
Yeah that seems realistic. Though I think it'd be a much tighter affair like 3-5 points. But if Ireland can contain the loose, and Quade they have a good chance. If they can disrupt his rhythm and frustrate him, Ireland can squeak by. I look for BOD to smash him a couple of times to shake him up a bit.

If not, the Aussies are gonna have a field day out wide if Quade can disrupt those channels.

Looks like we are going to try and outplay Quade and Gits, Sexton and Wallace are very like them. Strange as we usually play a bosh 12 rather than a second 5/8 typle player but great to see :) That being said I can see is targeting the midfield through Paddy and Sexton using Bowe and Trimble as strike runners, which is a role both can be absolutely devastating in.

Nathan Sharpe is out which does us a favour up front, but makes the Aussie pack even more mobile so not looking forward to this backrow battle too much.

Can't wait :)

You didn't just compare Paddy Wallace to Matt Giteau, did you?

Yea that an insult to Paddy :)
But Like Giteau Paddy can muster up some magic

When has Paddy Wallace ever mustered up some magic?

Plenty of times, limited oppurtunites in an Ireland Shirt but is our most creative centre by far. Great to see him play for Ireland.

Yes I did, they are a similar type of player.

Haha I was expecting a shitfight there :p

Just to clarify, Gits is a much better player, but they are the same type of "2nd 5/8" 12.

Yeah I get it :) Tbh I've never seen much of Wallace, so I'm not gonna make any brash statements.

As was said Wallace never really given a platform to shine but does have ability and fine rugby brain. Also very dedicated and well chances are he will be bust open Saturday as he does go into places that cause pain

I don't really understand what you mean, but it sounds brilliant!! :D

wallace was a fly half in his early years but david humphreys was ulsters flyhalf so he was sub or full back
under eddie o'sullivan he was only ever at most going to be the fly half sub after humphreys retired he eventually started playingcenter for ulster 06 i think with mabey about 5 caps at the time
but has taken years for him to realise his potential at 12 and vie for a place in the starting team with goodold gordon

I'd Wallace suffered from a lack of self belief before Kidney came in, and some good man management helped him out. Also with Sexton and Ian Humphreys improving, it lead to him playing/training with Ulster and Ireland at 12.

I thought Wallace started out as a centre. Didn't he partner with BOD at centre when they won the Junior WC back in the day?

He could have,(it was before my time) but I know he started with UCD and Ulster at out-half around 1998-99. Throughout his career he has been played in 3/4 different positions, out-half, 2 centres, full-back. This lead to him becoming a decent player in all positions, instead of a very good player at inside centre or full-back.

I've decided to watch the Australian coverage of this because the biased commentating offers some comic relief

One women couldn't sing Ireland Call properly, the one singing Advance Australia fair is a lady-boy.
