3.c.toopi/warriors
4.p.whaturiwa/tigers
5.m.utai/bulldogs
6.n.vagana/sharks
7.j.smith/eels
8.r.wiki/warriors

bench:
14.s.b.williams/bulldogs
15.f.moimoi/eels
16.l.hohaia/warriors
17.f.puletua/panthers

other players available s.matai,g.tupou,w.koopu,l.covell,h,peranara,m.peranara,t.leuluai,k.leuluai,j.galavoa,g.carmont and heaps of other players..but tha only ones i could think of rite now

anyways..im not sure on sonny bill if he is allowed...if he is then that would be great for new zealand...we have some injuries to some kiwi players and only one super league player is keen to come down which is thomas leuluai(i wudnt blame him..hes 20 years old and playin in the super duper retirement league)

we dont have top halves but we have potential...rumours going round bluey is lookin at the bartercard and the second tier nrl grade in aus for all our kiwi halves...smith of the eels played pretty well on debut for them last week so im guessing hes an automatic pick..coz we dont have many options..we need 3 class playmakers,a great kicker and a back up fullback to help propell the kiwis to better success..we have solid wingers and we have awesome centres...our forwards have been our greatest attribute for ages

it looks allright...win or lose i hope thye put up a strong as fight as thye did last year when they beat the aussies on home turf to kick off the trinations...

this will also act good for the aussies..especially the players who may eventually move to state of origin if they play well

Why arn't they playing it this Friday? It can hardly be called an ANZAC Day Test when it's being played two weeks after ANZAC day.

the club game is important in league so that gets put ahead of any international. that is why today instead of a test there was a game between the draagons and the roosters. you could proabbly do both as well have a club game on the actual day and a test on the friday night although that is proabbly asking a bit too much for some clubs that will have players in both teams

teams gettin picked tonight....this test match is gonna be a real shiner, the ozzies seemed ****** about the 24 - 0 defeat they got last year

Teams have been named boys:

AUSTRALIA has named its team to play the Anzac Test against New Zealand at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Friday night.

NEW ZEALAND: Brent Webb (Warriors), Clinton Toopi (Warriors), Steve Matai (Manly), Tame Tupou (Brisbane), Nigel Vagana (Cronulla), Jake Webster (Melbourne), Paul Whatuira (Wests Tigers), Thomas Leuluai (London Harlequins), Benji Marshall (Wests Tigers), Louis Anderson (New Zealand Warriors), Roy Asotasi (Bulldogs), Jason Cayless (St Helens), Nathan Cayless (Parramatta), David Fa'alogo (South Sydney), David Faiumu (North Queensland), David Kidwell (Melbourne), Frank Pritchard (Penrith), Ruben Wiki (Warriors), Sonny Bill Williams (Bulldogs).

Both teams look pretty solid for this match up! Should be a great game!

GO THE KIWI'S! (for the good of international rugby league)

oh yeah, and suck **** to Hodges! :bleh!: after all his and Bennetts :wah: they only ensured he wouldn't get picked!

It's good to see the annual tradition of putting a Kiwi before the judiciary before the test hasn't been let down.

This time it's Vagana who played a pretty quiet game for the Sharks.

P.S. I hope not having Hodges in your side comes back to bite you in the ass.

Hodges, regardless of his form at the moment, will always be a ***** in defence when facing up to tougher players! He'll be found out at Origin time, just like he was in the 2004 GF by Utai.

Very pleased with the Kiwis side...

Meh dont really care bout the aussies, but yeh imo pricey should be there...

Oh p.s looks more like a s.o.o nsw side then a kangeroos side

I dunno, look at it this way:

AUSTRALIA: Anthony Minichiello (Roosters), Matt King (Storm), Mark Gasnier (Dragons), Matt Cooper (Dragons), Timana Tahu (Eels), Darren Lockyer (Broncos, captain), Andrew Johns (Knights), Willie Mason (Bulldogs), Danny Buderus(Knights), Petero Civoniceva (Broncos), Luke O'Donnell (Cowboys), Nathan Hindmarsh (Eels), Ben Kennedy (Sea Eagles). Interchange: Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys), Mark O'Meley (Bulldogs), Steve Menzies (Sea Eagles), Steve Simpson (Knights).

There's still a sprinkling of hillbilly's in there ;) .

correct me if im wrong but im sure luke odonnell is from NSW. if that is indeed the case then that makes only 3 queenslanders in the side. your deadset dreaming if you think cooper has been going better than hodges. cooper is going to get cut up again. marshall and whatuira have coopers number. i cant wait to see Mini trying to stop Tame Tupou at full speed.

woohoooo..cant wait, ricky gonna pick out tame tupou on attack..come 4th and 5th run so best bet is that he pairs with nigel all the time..assuming he is the starting winger

anyways..very solid team, bluey is no bullshitter..he tells it how it is and doesnt hide..awesome to see sonny and benji in the team..the superstars of the future will finally play together again

Hodges is better than Cooper, but if he were to be in the team it would be at the expense of Gasnier, because thats where he plays... And Hodges isn't better than Gas.

target and destroy andrew johns and buderus...wreck there focus..and bring on thurston..he is better to handle then johns

kidwell and pritchard need to destroy the playmakers..and let gasnier and cooper play ball..we can hold them..but with johns and buderus running the forwards it will be harder...

sonny bill needs to show omelee his favoured shoulder and slow him and mason down...they will be breaking the advantage line but if they get softened up they will tire more quickly...wiki owes a good smack to steve menzies after beaver smashed him when they last met

the forward battle is crucial...but the kicking game must be exactly equal or better for the kiwis to have territory,im expectin alot of dummy half runs and blindside attacks to give our kickers better vision of the field..

most crucial factor for a victory...is DEFENCE...whether its trench warfare with the forwards or the aussies confuse us with backline tactical play...the d-line has to be intact and moving forward at all times..thats where communication will be at its most crucial...so the d-line has to always be visable so the aussies kno we are there at all times...so they cant get delayed time to form there backline moves..

consistancy is victory!!!

viva la kiwiz.....best international league team in the world...time to back up that claim

No Bowen again......... bloody racists, i reckon the Brumbies should go after him to replace Giteau at inside.

What else does he have to do to get an aussie spot?

Glad Tahu got picked though.

Hodges can play in both centre positions you skin bag. If anyone other than Ricky Stuart was coaching he'd be in the team.

In other news if Minichello pulls up sore before kick-off on Friday I think you'll find a certain Mr Hunt in the fullback jersey. According to this morning's Courier Mail he is the preferred selection over Bowen.

khunt shouldnt even be considered for aussie imo, dont even think he should be considered for nz either

tis all crap

and i know it doesnt have much to do with anything :D well kinda but not really

about 400 FB's can get the aussie spots

i dunno who's injured/suspended or what, but check this list out

Slater - suspended i know
Inglis
Bowen
Mini
Hogdson
Hunt
Thaiday
Wesser
Lockyer - i know 5/8th, but we know where he should be

Doesnt matter whom they pick IMO - they will all perform....there is no shortage of FB's in australia lately

Ricky is the coach mate, and not the board of selectors all by himself ;) . If the selectors thought he'd do a good job, they'd put him in there, but they would have wanted a solid centre combination, and they've already got that with Gas and Cooper! So why send in a bloke with no solid established combination (not to the level of Gas and Cooper) and who has shown in the past that he shits his pants when defending the big boys?

Seriously Wally, I'm dissapointed with you... you've clearly bought all this crap in the Murdoch press about a big feud with Ricky, when it was all Bodges and Bennet doing all the *****ing! Ricky said he'd be fine with whoever the SELECTORS selected, and merely noted that Gas and Cooper did a great job for him in last years Origin.

Would be a travesty if that happened... Bowen is so much better than KHUNT it's not funny!

Hunt to debut for Australia

May 1, 2006

New Zealand-born Karmichael Hunt will make his rugby league test debut for Australia in Friday's clash with the Kiwis after Kangaroos fullback Anthony Minichiello was ruled with a lower back injury on Monday.

Minichiello passed a fitness test of his injured hamstring on Sunday afternoon, but was on Monday rubbed out after an assessment by team doctor Hugh Hazard on a lower back problem.

The withdrawal has opened the way for 19-year-old Brisbane custodian Hunt to make his international debut.

The call up is expected to cause controversy across the Tasman given Hunt was born in New Zealand, but he has frequently stated an ambition to play State of Origin for Queensland, which would rule him out of playing for the Kiwis.

On Minichiello's withdrawal, Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr said: "There was no doubt Mini was desperate to play and he did everything we could have asked in the fitness test (on his hamstring).

"However when he was further assessed that night there was some ongoing concern over whether a lower back problem he has been carrying did not make the overall risk too high for him and the team.

"After discussions with team medical staff, the selectors made a late request for Karmichael Hunt to be put on standby and asked to fly to Sydney today as a precaution.

"Anthony had a light work out this morning and following a later assessment by team doctor Hugh Hazard we decided it was best that Anthony be ruled out."

Hunt will join North Queensland's Johnathan Thurston as test debutants for the match at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

So whoever said they didn't want Hunt in the team has just lost out.

for years the test selections have been for the incumbent

How many tigers/cowboys do you see there - its never picked on form, and cowboys have been the #1 QLD team for 2 years now

Tronc should be prop
