Amlin CC Final: Leinster v Stade Francais

I think Madigan's good enough to play at 12 on a more permanent basis, provided he got significant experience in the position. His future at Leinster is probably at 10 though, they have enough depth in center for next year anyways.

Very talented player, makes things happen.
I think he would work very well at either 10/12 combined with Sexton. Could be a Larkham-Giteau; Carter-McAlister thing. Steady player and game breaker pairing.

Congrats to Leinster, however I still think that teams who fail to make it to the Heineken quarters shouldn't join the Challenge Cup.

Madigan has a lot of the attributes that should make a good centre but I don't think he is one. Definitely an outhalf.

That was pretty fun. Aside from a huge Scottish man trying to feel my *** and announcing he was not named Jimmy Saville.

Lots of talk about Connacht being lucky etc. The rules are the rules. They finished higher in the league than some other teams who'll be in the HEC next season. On top of that as someone already pointed out qualification for the HEC is different in each country.

Regarding Madigan and Sexton. I don't think Leinster will be weakened much next season. Madigan and Sexton are slightly different style of players so Madigan will offer something different.

As for the match, I thought the SF number 10 had an awful game. He didn't know what he was doing.

@RossOCK: Winning the Amlin is like sleeping with your best friend's mother. Great while it's happening. But no one wants to discuss it the next day.

I loved Sexton's post match interview. How Ulster must be pretty confident choosing Leinster's home ground as their declared home venue. It's clear from it that the Pro 12 Final is Leinster's number 1 goal and Leinster are using Ulster's choice of venue as motivation.

I don't know if it was picked up by Sky's cameras but with a couple of minutes to go, Joe Schmidt was walking in front of the South Stand towards the halfway line at the Anglesea Stand trying to go unnoticed. He received a standing ovation from pretty much everybody and nobody paid any attention to the last piece of action! It's well deserved. He's done so much for Leinster rugby and will be badly missed next season. Leinster's loss is definitely Ireland's gain.

While the Amlin Cup wouldn't have been mapped as a target before the season began, once you're in the competition you want to win it. Leinster showed that they're above the competition by obliterating those they faced in it. I much prefer that to Toulouse's complete disregard for the tournament.

So Connacht have now qualified for the Heineken Cup three times in a row and not once on their own merit. Whatever about gaining entry because a Heineken Cup win gives Ireland an extra place, getting one for Leinster winning a B grade tournament isn't all that fair. It's great for Connacht and their development but I can see why some would be ****** off. Then again they did finish ahead of some qualifiers in the Pro 12.....

Not much to discuss Leinster were step above every team they met, and considering recent success it's a bit hollow. The pro 12 final should be the real target of the team. I wonder if w=they'll put another star on the shirt for this or will it only be an outline.

Yeah, the pro 12 is definitely what they should and are aiming for, it'll glallow Schmidt to be able to say he won every competition possible with Leinster and it'll make it a successful season for Leinster.

I doubt they'll put another star on the jersey, that'd be a bit cheap.

Stars are only for HEC wins regardless. Anyway on match I'd say while Madigan is a fine player it hard to say Sexton wont be missed too much. The man is righty up there with Wilkinson and Carter in a league of their own. Agreed on Schmidt snoop what he's done is incredible. And fair play to him for picking youngsters last night. I think Jack McGrath took a bit of a hammering but it'll stand to him big time.

Why an earth did Ulster choose to play away when they could play at home?

How much of what is said here could have been applicable to Kidney when he left to become Ireland coach?

Although Schmidt has made Leinster probably the finest European team of all time on a different level to Kidney's Munster I suppose.

Yes and who seriously is advocating Zebre and Edinburgh getting free qualification based on performance this season and allow whichever team gets them in their pool to get an automatic home tie from their awfulness?

It would be better for Zebre to play in a tournament where they could actually win a match anyway. Would be better for them to get a win over Mont-de-Marsan for example to boost confidence than just be a 10 point gift for Harlequins like they were this season.

Because Ravenhill is too small based on the rules.

I think Jack McGrath took a bit of a hammering but it'll stand to him big time.

Actually despite what the commentators were saying (a winger and a ?) it was more Ross who was having a hard time which stopped mostly when De Malmanche (who I felt was illegal in what he was doing) went off.

On another note great to see Kearney really hiting his straps.

Why don't Ulster look into using Windsor Park then?

You seem to say that every time an Irish scrum has a tough time. :p
