For the record Israel have never publicly acknowledged it was a nuclear arsenal.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...power-weapons-iran-crisis-trump-a9272086.html

Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to accidentally admit his country has nuclear capabilities with an apparent slip of the tongue on Sunday.

Mr Netanyahu described his country as a "nuclear power" at a weekly cabinet meeting before quickly correcting himself with an embarrassed smile

Yes everyone knows they have them but they have never officially said they have.
Part of the problem is that if you've signed up to a non proliferation treaty and then you oppose certain countries because you disagree with them, but help others that you support, then it's hypocritical and very dangerous. As I said earlier the US has a history of providing weapons to states or groups of people they have later fought. I'm not say the US and Israel would ever go to war, but simply helping some states develop nuclear weapons when you are supposed to help limit them is terrible. Remember nuclear weapons are meant to be a deterrent only, because the reality is that if they were ever used, everyone loses.

Couple of things, when did Israel develop nuclear weapons? I could be wrong but I believe it was before the non proliferation treaty was signed. Same would go everyone else who has them apart from North Korea and South Africa (who have since decommissioned theirs) also is there any evidence that the US supported them? Don't forget the US refused to help the UK develop a nuclear deterrent after WWII even after the UK helped the Manhatten project. From what little we know about Israel's nuclear deterrent it was developed without any outside help in the same way the UK, France, USSR and China developed theirs. Pakistan, India and South Africa I believe did have some outside help and North Korea certainly had some but nations with Nuclear weapons tend to keep the tech to themselves and Israel wasn't always the darling of the US the way it is now. The Middle East looked a lot different during the cold war.

Whatever you think of the hypocrisy of it all, having a nuclear armed Iran is worse than having a nuclear armed Pakistan which according to Barack Obama was the one thing that keep him up at night when he was president.

This warren and Sanders thing is yikes.

GG democrats ******* yourselves once again.

(I also do think Warren is lying TBH).

Him saying a woman couldn't be president?

I imagine it's more along the lines of twisted words rather than complete fabrication - i.e. he's said it'd be harder for a woman to win people over than a man - which I'd say is true. A woman in politics is always going to be given a harder time than a man.
However it's being reported as him saying a(/any) woman is incapable of being President, which is BS (if that's what was said).

Suppose it plays into Biden's hands if the two more lefty candidates (Not that Warren is particularly left) are at it amongst themselves.
But Warren does seem to be milking this IMO.

Parts of the many issues with the US system is the primary process. Reality is the 'opposition' should of selected Trumps opponent 4 years ago to be a consistent voice again Trump and they don't rip each other apart right before an election.....its madness really.

Think to some extent Warren/Sanders are in a bun fight to be the defacto no. 2 candidate post super Tuesday.

The only thing Biden has in his favour is that if it does deteriorate into mud slinging and cheat attempts at intimidation, that is more his arena than it is Sanders or Warrens. Democrats need to decide on a tactic, either they stay whiter than white and let Trump charge around like a bull in a China shop or they get down in the dirt with him and try to unsettle him with direct insults, attacks and playing him at his own game. Either could work if done properly but what they CANNOT do is have another flimsy, uninspiring and aloof candidate. Clinton, despite winning the popular vote, did not really know how to deal with Trump. Had she been more forceful and less arrogant in not turning up to states, she could have won.

One thing is certain, Republicans will not play fair and will lie and cheat without a second thought. Democrats need to move to being extremely measured or be prepared to play dirty back to win, a middle ground of half arsing both ways will not work.

General election announced for the 8th of February in Ireland. Very short run in, not that they haven't been expecting a GE for months. At this point in time you'd presume Fine Gael will be out and Fianna Fail will end up as the majority party in a coalition, which is a bit... uninspiring.

Well at least it's on a Saturday. **** flinging is already going. Saw Simon Harris having a go at Micheál Martin for having a go at Fine Gael for not solving health, housing etc. You would think the one legged man would avoid the **** kicking contest but here we are.

No idea who I'll vote for. I'd rather pass a bucket full of driving range golf balls through my digestive system than vote for two of the sitting TDs in my constituency and don't trust any party as an institution. Just tell me what way the dodgy prick in Twitter with Irexit in his bio is voting and I'll do the opposite.

Tough one alright, I'm not voting for the black and tans or the lads who ****** the country up bad. The greens aren't big enough to enforce any change and will only damage themselves if in a coalition again.
Labour are nothing.
Sinners too socialist and any other party are worse.

I'll probably vote green as long as their policies aren't anti-Ster rugby anymore but there's nothing screaming out at me.

The power sharing agreement is really going to work out great for FF, they get to sit back and take credit for what they want while still acting like an opposition party and throwing shite while not having as much crap thrown at them.

I also am very whelmed about who to vote for will probably depend on the Green and SD candidates in my constituency. Those on the really far end of either side won't get anything from me and most likely neither will FF.

Just hope some of the loons from my constituency don't return their seats.

Generally try to avoid this thread but christ is there a lack of options for this election.

Which is why you're announcing your candidacy for Dublin Bay South. Honestly it's nice to borrow the thread from the Brits for a day.
Run on a policy platform of a 200% increase for Leinster players. Hopefully I'd get alpha's vote if no one else.

My knowledge of Irish politics is hovering around rock bottom but I suspect it's about to sky rocket over the next few weeks.
