A Political Thread pt. 2

Sadly I had to do some work today, mightily inconvenient of them, I barely got a swim in!!!

I did have a chat with a colleague and took a quick Overton window test...

I was named a Normie, sitting 84% outside the window, said I hold no strong opinions, and had me at 77% right radical and 72% left radical.

I have no words!

Free speech?
I can't see any actual details...

Claims to have Hamas links from one source, antisemitism actions from another, just pro Palestine activism from another.

The devil really is in the detail, if he's just banging a drum and chanting for the cessation in killing Palestinians, then this is an atrocity, if he is chanting for the illumination of Jews worldwide on college campuses, there's an argument that's damaging and harming people. If he is part of a coalition involved with bringing down the US from inside with links to Hamas and a plan of some sort then this seems reasonable.

Anyone have any details?

More Trump affect on Candian politics news

Amazing isn't it, he criticises the opposition and bang, snap election.

Pretty good politicking from a non politician to be fair, Libs were getting killed until the Tarrifs and now he's on a Trump's style 'Canada first' mission.

Not really a Canada First mission they'd happily go back to pre tariff without much frolick. Otherwise the Conservatives would be doing well they'd set themselves up in that vein with hats and everything.

They just looked south of the border and have "no thanks"

It's not an official position obviously, they'd lose the Liberal vote share lol. But to stand against Trump's tariffs publicly while begging for the status quo would be thebshrew move...

Polierve will have to play this incredibly cleverly if he wants to capitalise on his current potential lead, cosy up to Trump and risk ruin, back off from Trump too hard and get involved in the trade war.

Either way voters want 2 of both worlds, which candidate will offer them that?

We could see a situation where both Polierve and Carney take a pro Canada, anti Trump stance?

Polivere no longer has the lead according to latest polls hense Carney trying to capitalise.

Pretty much a myth traditionally the until the last decade the Overton Windows has drifted leftwards especially socially.

You'll find your grandparents pretty much hold the same views they did when they were your age. Just that is not "consvervative" as opposed to "progressive" to quote Grampa Simpson

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too."

Plus most studies show its not happening with Millennials (26 to 45 year olds) who have gone leftwards if anything but generation after them Zoomers are starting way more right.
Also to add the gender divide. Young men are starting to become increasingly hard right and young girls increasingly hard left. The News Agents did a good episode on this today. I appreciate Jon Sopel, Emily Maitlis and Lewis Goodall might not be appealing to a centrist like CK
