A Political Thread pt. 2

I loved the freedom trail in Boston. It was very well done and it's great seeing those older buildings preserved among the new. The information boards in the old state house were not what I expected either, it was very measured with a lot of information and detail rather than simplified over the top chest beating.

The fact the trail was an actual, physical trail made of bricks was a nice touch too. Also helped that the weather out there was beautiful the whole time.

Not sure where I'd go if I returned, possibly Chicago.

Another +1 for Freedom trail after visiting Providence last year I had a day in Boston and did that. Did worry about a little about Irish neighborhoods on my own and being VERY English.

Adding personal opinion about US trips:I'd definitely go back to the West coast (to see more nature there, not only the most famous canyons where I've been to). East coast is ok but more "usual" I'd say, reminded me Central /South Russia very much tbh.

Irish neighborhood day after St. Patricks day I'll add

I've always wondered, which one of Oxford or Cambridge is seen as more prestigious?

I'd say over here it's Oxford, but it seems in recent years that Cambridge has taken the edge.
Cambridge major links with pink Floyd, Monty Python, Stephen Hawking.
Cambridge currently better at Rugby.

Oxford gave the world Liz Truss.

He said he was wrong.

He clearly is not Hitler. I can't imagine a better ally to Israel in my lifetime.
Funny that isn't it. How you can be that wrong just after you bent the knee and kissed the ring. What a coincidence hey. If I was a cynical person I'd say Vance is a shallow snake oil salesman that saw an opportunity for power and grabbed it with both hands.

For the record he said "Americas Hitler" it's obviously silly to say he is exactly like Hitler but it's also silly to deny certain similarities in rhetoric. I mean after all he has been heard directly quoting Hitler before and when asked about it he said he didn't know and then still used certain phrases.

Hey, I'm like @dirty harry, you won't find me defending politicians.

I will say I like that Vance has young children and only a few years older than me. A big issue with western politicians has been an obsession with giving handouts to elderly people and ignoring young people because one group votes more consistently.

Or that looking after your elderly is just a natural thing to most people

I think he's a very unimpressive individual but then I think that about Trump but at least Trump is charismatic. Vance is just bland and, well, a bit thick.

Hard disagree. His political growth from his Ohio Senate run to now is crazy impressive.

I'd be very surprised if he isn't the 48th president.
