A Political Thread pt. 2

Trump is actually paying Macron a compliment when he goes for that pathetic hand crush standing arm wrestle. He knows that Macron is a highly skilled operator and a formidable diplomat on the world stage. Macron gently pressing Trump's arm as he interrupted him yesterday was pure class.

It'll be interesting to see if Starmer tries to do something similar (scripted or otherwise) on Thursday as he'll have taken note of Macron's win. He's obviously not as experienced as Macron in such situations and it might depend on whether or not Trump starts tweeting **** about Macron as soon as he's back on French soil.

Pretty sure he will.
Macron interrupted him, and contradicted him.

Okay, so he completely ignored that, and simply repeated his lies; but he's not likely to forgive such behaviour

It'll be interesting we've not really seen much of Starmer on the foreign diplomat scale. We know with Johnson, Truss and Baendoch how well he can deal with right wing chances in a combative arena such as PMQs. Personally I'd love to see him do that to Trump go full lawyer but sadly the situation doesn't call for it.

I managed to miss this 2 weeks ago

This is aligned with Musk's vision for Mars. He must have read Brave new world and wants to create a utopia full of genetic wonders. Beautiful people with a high IQ. Hitler would be proud of him.

So Trump refused to call Putin a dictator saying " I don't use those words lightly", right after calling Zelensky a dictator...

This is why there can be no engagement with the far right, no middle ground at all. The are all just utterly shameless in their lies.

A demonstration of how stupid someone people are (no he's not American)

It's incredible really. I don't have a problem with people not knowing things as it's impossible to know everything, but we live in an age with access to almost anything freely, but instead, people stick to their echochambers that strengthens their own opinions.

UK is boosting defence spending as well, something like an extra .2% of GDP, which sounds small but is probably an eye watering amount when written out (close to £6bn, I think)

Ultimately the issue is for any European military to be effective, there needs to be a cooperative command structure and unification of equipment, tactics, training etc. European nations have long opposed anything which may hint at any sort of "European army" but it's about time we stopped clinging so desperately to our little nation mentalities. The current events show that, despite all the economic power in Europe, we are pushed around because we are so disunited and spend as much time arguing among ourselves as we do coordinating against real global threats like China, Russia and now the USA.

Europe has a choice, either it goes down a path of greater unity to give it some clout on the world stage or it gets sidelined. There is no sitting on the fence about this any more. The protection of the USA masked this but that's gone and even if a more favourable administration comes in down the line, that nation is too unstable and untrustworthy now.

It's also highly unpopular but Europe as a whole needs a properly credible nuclear deterrent too.

We didn't need it because we had NATO. Pointless having a separate command structure for the same armies
