The only thing I find miraculous is that there isn't a single EU/UK/NATO leader that's calling out this bullshit.
Because the USA is still the most powerful nation and has the capacity to inflict the most damage on others (militarily or economically). In terms of sheer economic power, the EU is the closest competitor but is so disunited that it cannot act as a single entity. Nobody wants to be the one to step out of line and potentially face US action without the certainty that others are on board.
That and Europeans leaders for too long have fundamentally been weak and cowardly, constantly overly-afraid of not appearing to push their weight around and collective imperialist/WW2 guilt.
European leaders need to get a ******* grip and stop pretending the world is a nice place where everyone can get along. Just because we have made great strides in that regard within Europe, doesn't mean the rest of the world has and it's time they woke up to that reality. It's also time nationalists woke up to the reality that a united EU speaking with one voice is the only way forward to prevent getting sidelined on the world stage. The EU fragmenting, contrary to popular nationalist belief, doesn't protect sovereignty, it weakens it as you become powerless to take on larger bullies. What use is it saying you can make your own laws if they then get strong armed by foreign powers where you have zero representation?
If the EU was a country with a single economy, government and properly funded military, does anything think the Trump administration would be quite so happy to go out guns blazing or that we would be so afraid to respond? The full weight of the EU against the USA could seriously harm the USA in response, a single EU nation cannot win that battle and instead tries to appease that lunatic.
Europe should know full well how well divide and conquer works, we are now the ones on the receiving end of this tactic. Unfortunately it's working thanks to the useful idiots who seek to splinter everything within Europe.
