We can bring you more detail now on how South Korea's parliament voted.

National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik submitted a resolution requesting the lifting of martial law around 01:00 local time.

The resolution was passed with 190 members of the ruling and opposition parties in attendance, with all present in favour.

I'm sure Trump and the Republicans are watching with glee and taking notes... A nice test case of a modern democracy setting the military on political opponents. Surely the South Korean military must be feeling mixed loyalties right now, or will they blindly follow orders?

i dont actually have a problem with pardons, i listen too a podcast out of san quentin and its clear the justice system can be a bit ****** like @ncurd said above or those that had huge sentences on the three strikes rule getting caught with personal use Marijuana which is now legal all over the place ....but their should be some checks and balances like not pardoning people you're directly connected with...or yourself...in any other facet of life it would be a huge conflict of interest
Since you mentioned San Quentin which is here in the states, marijuana is not legal all over the place yet. If you're going to use marijuana over here make sure you know what state you're in. 🤣 People do get busted for not knowing that or ignoring it.

For those of you who do partake recreationally or for medical reasons and are planning to visit (click the map below to expand it and take note).

That's great news! 👏

Reports of a massive increase in the number of attacks and abuse of people in the emergency services, with police in particular facing a threefold increase since 2021.

I'm of the firm belief that something went very wrong during the COVID lockdowns and, as a society, we have become much more intolerant, nasty, confrontational and violent. I think this is being reflected in other nations too.

I think the police have done most of the damage to their reputation in recent years.

Lockdown(/isolation) plus social media

Plus a generation of mollycoddled entitled social media obsessed brats turning into adults and becoming parents themselves.

I suspect it goes way beyond emergency services. I have friends who are teachers and they say the abuse (verbal and physical) they get from both kids and parents is getting much worse.
