A Political Thread pt. 2

Typical ignorant political opinion from the Conservative Police commissioner for Surrey.
Amazing how they can pander to this useless culture war crap. It's like saying people who don't drink or smoke shouldn't use the NHS as they don't pay tobacco or alcohol taxes.

Most roads are funded by the council, which is funded by council tax. Only national highways are funded through general taxation and cyclists rarely use those roads anyway.

"Journalists" really need to push back on this blatant misleading information the Tories love spreading.

If true, isn't this basically fraud? Every time you think the scandals around water companies may have blown over, another pops up showing what a bunch of ******** they are and why the whole thing needs to be nationalised.

BBC News - Thames Water: Boss defends bonuses as sewage spills soar - BBC News

And more... Heads need to roll and these ***** need to be held to account.

The Biden administration is working to surge deliveries of weapons to Ukraine in its final days in office in a concerted effort to put Kyiv on a strong footing going into 2025, according to a senior administration official.

If only they hadn't spent the last few years dragging their feet

It's what they've done on everything. Democrats are always doing too little too late for whatever the Republicans try to do. Whether it's stacking the courts, gerrymandering, straight up lying, rigging the system or holding criminals to account, they always drag their feet. I've never seen people so determine to "play by the rules" whilst the other side blatantly isn't.

Biden and the Democrats dithered and held back because they knew it would harm their chances in the election. This last minute push is a pathetic attempt to create a legacy for himself which most people will see through. The Republicans aren't any better. Americans don't see it as their fight which is fine but Britain and Europe then need to think twice about supporting America with it's long term strategic goals including keeping the growth of the Chinese economy in check.

They are the worst sports team I ever supported.

Genuine curiosity here chaps, I understand preferring Biden as an individual to trump, but with trump being undoubtedly the better result for the UK does that change what you're hoping for?
From the US here, T-Rump is not going to be good for the UK or the US or the world for that matter. I did not vote for him never would. I would like to formally apologize to the rest of the world from the US its gonna get UGLY

Too little too late. The Biden administration were never serious about truly supporting Kyiv. The war could have been wrapped up in 2022 with the proper support but the white house was so risk averse to Russians nuclear threats. Sad times and a missed opportunity.

I am from the US and your acquaintances are ITIOTS
Maybe idiots, bad people etc, maybe not.I try not to give a value judgement based on someones' political views/voting (although it's complicated sometimes, yes). I was asking them rather just out of curiosity

South Korea vote to impeach the president. 12 of the ruling party's MPs defected and had some decency this time.

Next to see if the court upholds it.

Prince Andrew is such an embarrassment to his family and this country. Not only is he a nonce who socialised with fellow nonces but he's clearly been generating income through very questionable means. If he was a normal citizen he'd surely be on the sex offenders list and banged up by now.

Another idiot going on about "road tax"
Which highlights it's also time to move onto road charging system. VED is based on vehicles emissions and successive governments have failed to Reinvest into road network leaving them in such a state that it will take decades to resurface them.
