A Political Thread pt. 2

I wouldn't get rid of bank holidays for more flexibility to be honest. They tend to be great for managing workflow, I have just started a new job this week so not a great example but there tends to be a bit of a wind down in the couple days before bank holidays and an easing back in after.

If clients weren't trying to avoid certain dates to set deadlines my work-life balance would be far worse.

100% agree.
Also I feel all that would happen is employers would start to pressure people when to take their bank holidays.

Yeah I'm on the bank holiday band wagon too,
They're good for events as well - like last year Slamdunk festival was on the jubilee weekend, I always used to play a 7s tournament on the may bank holiday etc.

Wouldn't be adverse to spreading them out a bit over the year but would be against scrapping

It still irritates me that they created an additional bank holiday for the coronation especially when there was already one in the calendar one week earlier and another three weeks later. This will cost the UK economy £2.3bn (not ideal during a cost of living crisis) and it's all to maximise publicity for the royals. I think they're also profiting from these new offshore wind farms.
It irritates me that they get so many tax perks and for perpetuity.

This is getting a lot of hate online.

Not a fan of it, but then I'm not one of those Brexit voting Tory converts that Labour are trying to win back in the North. I'd say it would resonate more with them unfortunately. Irony is, if the Conservatives did it people wouldn't have batted an eye because they expect it and it would have probably been more effective than Labour's.

Politics is at a low point in this country, but if taking the high ground doesn't win you votes with the electorate and they keep voting for the same ****, then maybe it's the electorate forcing ads like this rather than Labour choosing to.

Is this one of these things where a 17 year old is classed as an adult and after a night out you'd have a 17 & 16 year old doing things they shouldn't (or at least one of them anyway)?

I think they're trying to tap into the anger after this ruling - though I think it's different rulings in Scotland and therefore an SNP think rather than Tory?

Are you surprised? It's totally crass.

I don't want to see that kind of crap from any party. But if Labour was trying to occupy the moral high ground, they've just lost a bit of it.

I may be wrong, but surely part of this is linked to the Conservatives obsession with business and the economy. If the rules are so relaxed as to allow this to happen then it's not fit for purpose.

The fact this didn't raise any red flags is ******* ridiculous.

Looks like a proper campaign....not a fan at all....

Not a fan of their strategy at all at the moment if I'm honest. This combined with their unwillingness to outright condemn refugees policies and speak out for others such as trans rights. Its leave a taste of bile in the mouth.

It's not that I think they support these things really it feels like campaign strategy and it can be understood in a thinking exercise. It's all about not letting the Tories create wedge issues or fight them on grounds they want. It sucks and its hard to get enthused unlike say their energy policy.

I wonder if they think that they will get the majority of the left vote as they many will be anti-Tory regardless and so they've decided to target the centre right voters who might be persuaded to jump to them.

I don't like it though, it's bad, negative politics and is the kind of campaign you see American politicians running.

25 Good Friday's ago these two men did a very good thing, currently a bunch of ***** are trying to tear it apart for absolutely no one's gain.

Don't listen to ***** lads.
But this was at a time when people put aside their differences for the good of all. May only be 30 odd years later but that mindset seems to have almost disappeared globally with the focus being on how can we get the best for ourselves even if it screws over everyone else.
