A Political Thread pt. 2

A former England football player and now sports presenter has been removed from his job because he was critical of a government policy...very dark road we move down
Makes you think, knowing the next election is likely going to be a complete blowout for them, will they just charge full steam ahead down the authoritarian route and do as much damage as possible before they are forced out of office? I wonder how many far right in this country will immediately try claiming election fraud, I certainly know people personally I would not be the tiniest bit surprised tried to claim that, despite all the fuckups and general shiteness of the Tories, that the only way they could possibly lose would be via fraud. As a country I don't think we realise how many Trumpian extremists we have too. The veil of decency is slipping.

the athletic brought up that Andrew Neil was allowed to be the chairmen of the group publishing the spectator while working for the bbc. IDK how that is any different than what Lineker is doing with his private twitter feed.

I've no idea how this plays for the government (apart from their die hards will love it( but BBC have clearly made a massive error in judgement.

"Andrew Neil tells us why he thinks the bbc's got it right"
Couldn't make it up could you?
Public: Why is Andrew Neil allowed to express right wing views without punishment but Linker isn't allowed to express his political views?
BBC: For the sake of impartiality, let's get well known right wing commentator Andrew Neil on to say why we were right to let him have a say but not someone on the left.

Oh they're making a hash of this

The Tories have messed up big time here. They could have let it blow over (after Lineker's initial tweet) but they chose to call him out via Mordaunt at the dispatch box and Braverman on radio and it's just made everything ten times worse.
They are trying to distance themselves now by saying it's an internal BBC matter. Yeah...sure.

Now Final Score....I mean from the outside looking in this madness and even in the inside it is. But I really must stress how much of a national sport this is and how MOTD, Final Score and Football Focus and integrained with that.
