A Political Thread pt. 2

Watched the first episode, which was very good, just got to find time to watch the other 2.

Pretty clear Putin was playing the West all these years ( with hindsight) but he knows Western politicians all have a sell by date (elections) and appeased Russia. He's cold and calculating and chooses his moments.

At last some encouragement for Ukrainian forces. Looks like the Russians haven't entirely gotten their **** together and managed to lose 31 vehicles plus a few troops in a single attack around Vuhledar. See some footage of this and it looks like they drove on a single road in broad daylight, got hit by Ukrainian artillery and drove into a mine field. Shows they still lack a degree of tactical awareness.

I saw sold old footage of Putin visiting George W Bush and Blair. He's a very accomplished actor and can turn on the charm when he wants. Same goes for the acting masterclass he gave when he was pretending to meet with grieving mothers (Russian actors) who supposedly lost their sons in Ukraine last year. I guess being a former KGB agent he must be a pro at playing people.

I also found out that Pamela Anderson requested to meet him years ago about some animal rights issue and it's widely rumoured that he ended up giving her one.

And I wonder who started that rumour...

Next the US will be sending jets to birthday parties to shoot down any rogue party balloons.

There has been at least 4 'UFOs' shot down over the past few days....

For arguments sake, if they were alien in origin...

The USA is doing a great job of presenting the planet.

F88kin cowboys.

Yeah Sturgeon resigning is shocking she's popular within her party and left leaning folks (if only if it wasn't the Nationalism). I guess some people do have a time limit in any job and her hands are tied most of the time by Westminster

She has a 20 point lead in the polls. It will be the incessant, disproportionate hatred in the right leaning media (i.e. all of it up here) and the internet has ground her down. Look at any news outlet up here and you'll get zero reporting on the NHS outperforming the rest of the UK, or the fact there are a lot less strikes up here than in rUK.

Instead you'll get wall to wall crap about a couple of ferries (insinuating corruption where there is none), the awful NHS and a single fecking transgender prisoner (again with almost zero mention that the policy change up here would largely be the same to Ireland, Spain and Finland). Plus multiple daily headlines being personally critical of Sturgeon in a way Rishi, Keir or the Lib Dem fella will simply never experience (the latter due to an apparent media blackout on the Lib Dems).

She was far from perfect and I abhore her Covid performance (marginally better than Boris) that led me to literally having to find a ventilated cupboard to plug a laptop into for work because the state had utterly failed to take action. But she was honest and an effective communicator.

It's not healthy for democracy to see a broadly competent individual massively ahead in the polls feel mentally incapable of continuing in the job due to the poisoned environment that the modern media and internet can produce. Its proving a depressingly effective tool and is the second one globally in a month.

Its another great day for the far right and for lovers of hate. If you can't beat them at the ballot box, then just bully them.
